Larry (Les Twins) and Joe Styles (ATeamLV) Exchange in Parking Lot |

Спорт

Larry from Les Twins and Joe Styles from ATeam Las Vegas went one round outside after the "In It To Win It" Battle in Las Vegas a few weeks back. Both dancers give us dancers a great perspective on how each listen to music and translate it through their dance.
Some may call this a battle, but the real dancers know its an exchange of dance styles, knowledge, and experience. It was only one round, which usually there are more rounds in a raw street exchange, but the importance is the knowledge of musicality and learning of different styles.
No dancer is right or wrong with a mutual respect and understanding of how each defines musicality. Why is this important? Because growing the community in knowledge and understanding of how we all learn music through dance and vice versa helps us further the evolution of styles, community, and the art.
Some of you who see this may only see one perspective, but you need to look at both sides and show respect just as each dancer did at the end.

when larry said " you said today i feel like i won,but it's not about feelings its about honesty" that pretty much sums it up. joe was in his feelings a little too much and got busted in a lie. so even if he was the better dancer (i dont think so) i think Larry handled that very well as a man

@@HIMMYK52 I've met them several times, my best friend is friends with their ex manager, I'm a fan for 7 years and counting, but I'm also honest as fuck. These guys are flawed and definitely have no class. Not all people are haters to just hate, they simply met them, and though they might be fan of their dancing, they don't elevate them into hights that they are not capable of. Also met Joe, he's way to confident about his dancing, but is otherwise a nice guy. Nicer than the twins, hurts me to say this as a fan of them.

skarbuskreska Okayyyyyyy I have ALSO met them several times, AND learned choreo from them, AND danced with them one on one, AND fought with them, AND had them be so wonderful and thoughtful towards myself and others that I got enough juice to say ❌WRONG ANSWER. You can never name me one dancer or human being who isn't "flawed". If I went off of my first impressions of them like you have then we'd be on the same page. Good thing there's way more to us than first impressions; they do not offer a true insight. Maybe you didn't show yourself friendly enough or if you came at them with bad energy I can attest that they will serve that shit right back at you with no problem. They keep it a Buck at ALL TIMES. You are totally entitled to your opinion but I am here to counter your claim because I have experienced both sides of their nature and it didn't take me 7 years to do it.

***** Lmao larry dickeater or not, joe didn't win the battle. I was pissed off when he started making some beats with his mouth. Some of the beats fell in the rhythm, but others were so off. And then its like he doesn't dance hip hop, he isn't making a story or painting a picture, he is just doing something because of the music, which he isn't in tune with. Which is why he doesn't win major competitions(especially in Europe)

***** I just saw this LOL but it's one thing to call me a dick eater if I really have no proof to back anything I say. Pretty sure I've said the same thing before to you, but if I defend Laurent in the same manner I do Larry, then that's dickriding because as good as he is, he's lost many more times before than Larry and his style is more prone to defeat in a battle. However, it's not dickriding if I got as much statistics as Larry does as I do confidence in saying he's a great battler/dancer. I just see it as stating facts. Some people like you may see it as dickriding but you can't get mad at the truth. Just saying. The only other people I have enough confidence to say that their resume literally defends their position as a dancer are Skitzo and Salah.

I think many "dancers" question Les Twins originality and style, bcuz of how far they have come into their talent... They are all over the world now...Doing dance workshops...They've toured with Beyonce and JayZ, and have been in music videos with other famous artists...They also model, and are into doing their own music...I don't think Laurent and Larry are arrogant..They are just confident..

What Les Twins have that is different then anyone else is that they listen to every beat and every groove of the song. They switch instantly from beat to beat, even using the rap's groove when they do their moves. You need to listen very closely, not just on the surface on the song, but in depth and pay attention to the subtle beats in the background. Watching Les Twins for over 2 years now have changed how i listen to music forever, I can jump around the beats at will now.

Basically, Joe doesn't deliver "effective" dance. A lot of gimmicks, a lot of dancing to multiple cadences and not enough "soulful" and "within-the-beat" dance. Not saying exploring cadences are bad, on the contrary they are important to expand your mind and moves. But it's simply not being applied effectively

You may not see it in this exchange but Joe is well known for expanding beyond the positive side of the music, there is a negative side of music which most dancers do not hear today. Both Larry and Joe acknowledged that at the time of this exchange. Respect.

I get that this comment was 3 years ago. But it wasn't them being "arrogant" at all. Being arrogant is to exaggerate ones importance or abilities. He just simply knows he's more superior because his dance ability speaks for itself. So it's not so much as them being arrogant. They're just very well consious of their abilities.

People have to understand that how Larry and Lau speak, is not in a rude way, that's just how they talk in France and they just translate it in English and talk the same way they talk in France. They from Paris, I've been there once and can understand a lil bit of French and you have people who talk like that in general. Can be for example about politics or something else. And to be honest, me myself I was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and they do the same thing what Les Twins does, they just talk how they talk. I do it myself when I speak Dutch and once I translate it in English, I realize I might sound rude when I say this but that's me. That's Les Twins and that's the way they talk. And about the battle.... C'mon guys Larry had that. Big up to Joe Styles !

Thats why it takes baby's a certain amount of time to say their first word.....some brains develop faster than others but at the end of the day its hard to speak the English language.....there is a reason why we have English in school, and have you noticed how many words look the same but have totally different meanings, this is not including all the slang that we use on a day to day basis....just because it may be easy for us as Americans doesn't mean anything.....

Nothing Joe does is original in any way. He knows some steps and he has a few moves and he clearly believes that he can mash that together and call it a "style". The truth is he has only a very basic concept of musicality and a buffet approach to creativity. Watch any of his battles at GS Fusion Concept: he was getting beat handily and he had no idea why. He seemed to think that just doing a flip and a split would wow people. In other words, Joe seemed to think that physical ability trumped everything else, even the music itself. So it should be no surprise that there was no agreement between him and Larry. They were having two entirely different conversations.

Mr. Wiggles also introduced France and the rest of the world to Jookin by posting a video on his blog back then. Jookin' was also on the cover of Juste Debout around that time in France. At the end of the day both were respectful so it was no blood spilled. Now far as the move goes, since I, you, nor larry know exactly when he first started using it it's ignorant to say he's biting ain't it? Especially since there's over a handful of comments on here from other people that follow jookin having already stated the move was relevant before larry. You have a jooker doing a known trick from jookin, it's not rocket science to put two and two together . PS we all know there have been styles and moves created from styles that been existing for awhile with not a lot of mainstream hype. Jookin is no different.

Secondly, I enjoy and respect all forms/styles of dance and I also enjoy and value other dancers beside Les Twins. However Joe can swear up and down that hes not inspired by the twins but he will only be lying to himself. Back in 2012 when he went up against Bailrok and Larry I didn't see him do NONE of these so called "jookin" moves, you could see him literally studying Larry's every move but yet now all of sudden he is inspired by Memphis jookin smh. Joe is an incredible dancer but I think he was over playing his hand; everybody knows certain signature moves that the twins do and when someone else does it, we automatically think of them. He knows that and still stood there and lied to their face lol he should have just bowed out gracefully and kept it moving.

Punky Brewster Do you you know les twins personally? You be debating about les twins way more then I do, don't start. I'm taking it seriously because people don't know what their talking about and need to do their research plus I'm a dancer and breathe the art,I'm passionate about it so yea it's serious to me. 2nd of all dancers evolve and switch styles all the time. Remember 2008? Was larry doing those footwork moves before jooking was introduced in his home country by mr.wiggles at juste debout? Was larry doing those footworking moves before hurakane from g-style group taught him and his brother? So why aren't you calling larry out about being a liar about not knowing the moves from jooking saying "it's all me, what style"? Oh because you only pay attention to one side of the coin. It's arrogant to say another man just straight up took your style when the jooking style he dances encompasses all the tricks you know. So called jookin moves? NO, they ARE jookin moves 1:07 kzread.info/dash/bejne/iZ-XzbewkqivmdI.html 1:08 kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZ-m0NuQpquYp9o.html 2:25 kzread.info/dash/bejne/a5lhyrxumtuunc4.html

However I am not saying Larry didn't learn from someone else because of course he did but he made those moves his own. He took those moves and created a whole different style within it. The moves that Larry created are the same moves that Joe was trying to imitate and he should have just owned up to that. Everybody gets their inspiration from somewhere no matter who it is and its nothing wrong with that.

So we can never really rule out that he has to have made that his move via jooking. I didn't even know about jooking and messed around with it for a while, so knowledge of hip hop is only known to a handful.

I don't feel as though Les Twins were being arrogant or bullies or anything of that nature in this video. Im not saying they aren't arrogant because they do have their moments when they are COMPLETELY full of themselves, but I don't think that this is one of those moments. They weren't asking the people around them, they were asking Joe how HE personally felt in regards to who won the battle because that's all that matters. Yes, they continued to ask the question repeatedly but remember, Lau said that when he would battle his brother majority of the time they would both agree that one person was better that day. So it could be plausible that they felt like Larry won, but Joe wouldn't admit it. They weren't saying they were some undefeated champs that nobody could beat, or that Joe couldn't dance, they were just making sure he was being honest with himself. But regardless , all 3 of them have unique dance styles and are amazing at what they do 💯

I would have to disagree with you Sharina Judd. Mainly because I feel dance even when put in a competitive atmosphere, should NOT focus so much on the aspect of "winning" or "losing". Everyone has something special to offer, and Joe definitely is a phenomenal dancer. Les Twins seemed to home-in too much on winning and losing, especially towards someone who is relatively less famous than they're (let alone the fact that they're two people vs one since they're twins). Dance is a beautiful art, and although we can turn any art into a competitive atmosphere, there should be some professionalism ESPECIALLY coming from someone who is more famous. They asked him a honest question... "Who do you think won?" ... He told them what he believed, and then they get upset at his personal opinion of himself? ...........yea that's just pure selfish. It's clear they didn't like him, and to bash him with their fame by looking into the camera, exploiting their fame against him is just wrong.

OfficialLesTwins I've been looking at this Joe Styles for the longest time, since I first saw him in a 'IN IT To Win It' video, because I knew I recognized his face from somewhere. NOW I remember, he was in one of their sessions 3 yrs back, watching their moves INTENTLY, especially Larry. So he definitely learned something from them. Also, I thought Joe was playing when he danced..he was serious??? O_o LMAO! 4:33 Larry said 'you can't create beats when it doesn't exist' and 4:42 then Joe was trying to explain himself like he was krumping all along & asked Laurent did he know what it was...really Joe??? :-) Oh, to any ''krumpers'' out there, do you or do you NOT follow the beat or you just follow your own beat like Joe said. Also, you have to listen to the Twins speak 2 or 3 times to understand what they're saying sometimes...I didn't hear arrogance, they were just calling Joe out, because Joe was explaining TOO hard. :-)

This dude Styles does know how to move, but he has no musicality compared to the twins. Of course you can create your own beats to the song IN YOUR MIND but please don't dance to them. Its not beautiful. The thing is that you don't make your own beats. You have to hear every single of them. And thats what i call musicality P.s. I dont get it why everybody's saying Larry was rude, he just said the truth

Okay, as a past musician, I get what Joe was saying. So Joe was dancing to the off beat. It's still in rhythm, but it's sub dividing the music, like percussion. Like 1 AND 2 AND. He just added a lot of ands to his turn lol. The problem there is that not a lot of people focus on that when it comes to dancing. Most people focus on what's actually present in the music. I can understand needing filler before hitting the next beat, but more energy should be put on the 'on beats', otherwise it becomes too abstract. He's got good musicality though. I personally think he'd excel if he didn't get so convoluted with the musicality.

These dancers have really inspired me to get back into the art too, among others. At the moment, Channel Awesome is mostly looking for contestants for the new game show series. Announcements will be made if we're in need of new producers or talent :) channelawesome. com/ contestants/ (remove the spaces)

As a fellow dancer I felt he had good rhythm within the music, I was able to follow him and I'm not even a musician. Every dancer don't have the same rhythm nor flow to the music. I've seen a battle where 5 dancers would all battle eachother to the same song and all have their own rhythm to the beat.
