Rodman was no joke. He couldn’t shoot the ball but his D was top five every year. Plus this was 80’s/90’s basketball where they could make contact with out the ref calling a foul. In today’s game Larry would have been a God among little boys.

You missed the most savage thing he ever said. In a game against the Cavs, Craig Ehlo held him to 1 - 10 shooting in the first half. Ehlo, feeling a bit full of himself, talked trash to Bird saying, "How bout that D Larry? How bout that D!" Bird just scoffed. In the second half, Bird nailed his first ten shots over Ehlo, the last one with his left. As Bird ran back on D, he ran by Ehlo and said, "Hey Craig, is your mom watching?"

Larry Bird - the most overrated player in NBA history. Although Larry had outstanding supportive teammates, he managed only three NBA Titles. Magic, Kareem, Michael, Shaq had six. Lebron has four. Bill Russell, the greatest Celtic of all-time had 11 NBA Titles in 13 years. Larry was usually guarded by players 4 or 5 inches shorter than him. I wonder how well Larry would do against the quicker, stronger, faster better jumpers/ more athletic Kevin Durant or Lebron James? Players Larry's own size. A fair matchup. Bill Russell would have shut down Larry. End of story.

n 1974 Larry Bird was my P.E assistant when I was in the 8th grade and he was a senior at Springs Valley High School in French Lick, Indiana. At the beginning of each P.E. class we always ran 10 warmup laps around the gym. One day, a trampoline was set up on the basketball court and there was Larry Bird bouncing on it. As the whistle blew and we reluctantly lined up to run our laps, our teacher (who was also Larry's basketball coach) blew his whistle, and said "Larry is going to take 10 shots while jumping on the trampoline. If Larry makes any shots, each one made will delete a lap that you must run." Coach threw the ball to Larry and right there in front of me and the entire boys Jr. High P.E. class, Larry proceeded to hit 7 out of 10 shots while bouncing up and down on the trampoline, 35 feet away from the goal. Larry set an incredible example for me as a young boy in French Lick, Indiana that helped me through my entire adult career. If you are willing to work very hard and never give up, your dreams can and will come true. Thank you Larry.

Depends on which rules. Up until 1993 you only got two free throws when fouled shooting even three point shots. also no zone defenses and hand checking legal. So that 86 Celtics size both interior and outside scoring as well as defense would be tough to beat with 1986 played with 1986 rules. Also look at how much Luka or Jokic dominating now with todays rules….think about how more effective peak Larry bird would be in todays game as a better shooter rebounder, defender and scorer and just as tall/taller with the team he might make that 86 squad even better under todays rules shooting 10 threes and being too much down low at the same time.

And given that he doesn't have to run to the basket every single time, he's saving a shit ton of stamina. @@nikhilukey6518 Wilt was a cheat code in the 60s just like George Mikan was in the 50s. The league had very few big guys with finesse in those days and the ones that did exist were still a half foot shorter than Wilt. Had he played in the 90s or later he'd have been great, but he wouldn't have come anywhere close to putting up 100 points in a game. If you replaced Wilt with Jokic in that game against the Knicks, I guarantee you he'd get 100 points too. Everyone rightfully puts Kareem over Wilt in terms of best center of all-time and Kareem never got close to 100. I've seen some really shitty takes from Boomers who try to claim that Wilt actually played in a more competitive era (lmfao) and because of that he deserves even more credit. That simply isn't the case. The talent in the NBA today is miles ahead of any decade in the 20th century and the position on the court where it has improved the most is with centers. For decades centers were mostly a gimmick where any guy over 6'11" who can walk without tripping is given a shot at playing. Very few of them were ever truly amazing basketball players like Wilt was, which is why it is very easy to remember the all-time greats.

Then you watch the replay and see him AIM for the skate from halfway across the zone. These guys had such a good understanding of the game that they could predict the physics of people not on their own team just from study and knowledge. Mind blowing.

Otherwise, all kinds of African- American people would be called "white", too, since the average African American person in America is 40 or 50% European. Larry is Native on both sides, so by the usual definition he can't be called "White". He's mixed race. I wish they would refer to African American people the same way. We're all cousins.
