LARGEST WOODEN PIER IN EUROPE! Sopot Beach Day from Gdansk | Poland Travel Vlog

The Polish seaside town of Sopot is home to the largest wooden pier in Europe, famous in Poland! The train from Gdansk to Sopot... ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
If you're looking for things to do in Poland don't miss Sopot! Sopot is a stunning spot by the Polish seaside, a quick train ride away from Gdansk and is well worth the visit. It's also home to the largest wooden pier in Europe, the Sopot Pier.
The Sopot beach and water isn't necessarily stunning, but the atmosphere in the little beach town is something you need to experience. Poland is a welcoming place with so much variety, even the difference from Gdansk to Sopot is night and day - as you can sort of pick up from our response in the travel vlog.
The pier isn't the largest in Europe in total, but the wooden element is the key point - there's no larger piers built our of wood specifically. Something we didn't expect to find in Poland either way.

Your vlogs prove an important point. Never pre-judge anywhere. I wonder how many people who have never been to Poland expected to see beaches as amazing as this there? What a location! I bet the sea is cold though - it certainly is around the UK!

The wooden pier ( the molo ) is stunning and has very romantic feel to it, great to visit as a couple, it is also beautiful at night. The crooked house (krzywy domek) is an award winning building for the ugliest building in Europe, but strangely enough it is most beautiful to me ! Yet again it is a joy to see tourists loving Poland and being so happy and free !

8:30 If it was the last weekend of June, the planes, the ships and copters were part of the Sea Day in nearby Gdynia. Gdynia is quite commonly regarded as "the sea capital of Poland" and the whole Tricity as "the Summer capital of Poland".

8 days are enough to tour many places in that region. You should remember that Sopot is a part of Tricity (PL: Trójmiasto). It's something like a metropolitan area of three cities: Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia and I think it's worth to visit every of them cause they have really different vibe even though they are really close to each other. The next interesting spot is Malbork (about 70 km from Gdańsk) with the largest castle in the world. A little bit further (about 180 km from Gdańsk) there is Toruń - the city of Nicolaus Copernicus, with a beautiful old town and delicious gingerbread. Enjoy your trip! Greetings from Poland :)

Great place for windsurfing, open water swimming, mountain biking (yes!) in the nearby forest created be a glacier you can go for a spin or a crazy ride. If you fancy horse riding or racing there are magnificent stables there. Take a bus, train or hire a car and within 30minuts you will experience a charming (Switzerland of Kaszubia) Kaszuby, a region of lakes, hills and scrumptious food. What a lovely couple you are! Beginning to enjoy our work guys, its always interesting and enjoyable. The Naval Ships in the distance and the aircraft over head were rehearsing for commemorations of the Polish Navy. Gdansk was the location of the first Nazi attacked of WW2 at 04:45am Ist September 1939. Massive monument to this at Westerplatte. Hours later, Britain was at war with Germany. Cool pier.

It's so crazy to see my hometown shot like one of those distant, beautiful places I watch in travel vlogs. I'm very happy you enjoyed it so much and thank you for reminding me of the beauty of Sopot. It may seem so fascinating when you first come here, but living here from day to day, going to school and work or just for little walks, seeing it from my window, it's easy to loose this feel of adventure and extraordinary that definitely is in Sopot. As for 'spa town', back in the day, before the II WW Sopot used to be a luxury town for rich people to come and relax in. It's purpose was to help people heal and rest after everyday life. The title of 'spa town' refers to the special waters we have here with a high level of salt in them that were and still are used in healing purposes. It's a common thing in Poland for towns which purpose was to be a luxorius escape at the beginning of their existence to have this title and it's quite easy to loose as the town has to keep it's standards high and have, for example, low air pollution levels and other health-related benefits for tourists. The special water in Sopot granted the town a worldwide fame in 20s and 30s and can be found in little fountains in a shape of a mushroom all over the town. Hope that explained it a little bit. Anyway, loved the vlog and I really hope youll enjoy the rest of your stay in Poland 😊

things to see in Warsaw : top balcony floor on the Palace of Culture, new riverfront at Vistula river, Świętokrzyska street with beautiful greenery, the Old town is a obvious with Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście, old untouched by the war Praga district with Neon Museum, go to Łazienki Park, visit stunning Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Uprising Museum! We also have lots of hippie places to chill in the evening! Best way to see the city is to rent a Veturilo bike and enjoy one of the biggest public bike system in Europe :)

There's a cool cycling infrastructure in Gdańsk and Sopot. Gdynia lacks a bit but cycling in TriCity is quite efficient specially with a straight lane between piers in Sopot to pier in Brzeźno

Not far from Sopot is another city, Gdynia, where is located the largest naval base of Polish Navy, as well as large military airport Gdynia-Kosakowo. At the time when you came to Sopot, were happening large annual miltary excercises codenamed Baltops.

I am shocked :D There are not so many people in Sopot in June! Sopot is very crowded in July and August because it's very good weather for vacation. I am glad you like Sopot :D I have been living in Tricity since my birth, so these views are very common for me so maybe I can't see the beauty of these places. It's always a different experience when you see something the first time if you lived in the other place. And... As in every country, there are a lot of smaller and such beautiful places in Poland! It's not possible to see everything at once. I was on the trip through my country once and I still haven't seen everything :)

I spent a few short weeks in Sopot and Gdansk around the turn of the century, but sadly the weather wasn't as good as yours. The Baltic was starting to freeze over for a start! I was with some others working at the National Music Theatre of Poland which is near the beach in Gdansk. We were put up in a hotel in Sopot, so rather the opposite of you, but we did brave the elements on our days off to walk out on the pier.

I've just came back to this video maybe because I'm fat away from home and this is my hometown. Anyway few things about the peer- the paid entrance last trough summer then from mid September I think until may you don't have to pay. It's a bit confusing but I think they taking the money to preserve the peer, in the past gates were in different place tough. Anyway you could take the skm train and go to Gdynia Orłowo where is a smaller peer but with a lovely Clif and just so picturesque that most couples have their wedding photos there. Also longer train ( or a boat in summer)to Hel peninsula that you can actually see from Sopot in a clear day. And in freezing weather the Gdansk cove freez over and you could actually walk on water. Well we did that about 10 years ago, but maybe climate changed too much cause I don't think there were many freezing weather days ( like - 15). I know you don't like that cold but in Poland freezing weather can also but amazing cause the air is crisp and fresh and it's sunny and dry. Anyways, after all of this crisis travel probably will be different. I can't wait to be able to visit my home area again. Take care.
