LARGEST Study of Psilocybin TO DATE!
Ғылым және технология
Compass Pathways just released preliminary results from the largest study of psilocybin for the treatment of depression ever conducted. In this video, I will take a brief look at these results and give my perspective on them.

Started macro doses last year. It helped me stop drinking. I have not had a drink for nearly 8 months. My life has changed.

Congrats!!
Psilocybin mushrooms got rid of my continual angry thoughts and feelings that where constanly going around in head all the time.
Psilocybin therapy was the most deeply positive experience of my existence. My initial dose was meant to be 10 mg, but I overshot and had 14 mg (I didn't get the test results back from my mushrooms until after the therapy session took place). I'm surprised the results they're seeing in these studies are not higher than they are, but I guess I'm biased by my own deeply positive experiences with psilocybin.

And if your actually treating a brain trauma etc it's unfortunately not recreational 😂 You'll feel the brain being tickled by the mushrooms right? Like that tingling sensation... but there's also mental work happening, you get the feeling of mental fatigue after awhile. But that means it's working and the mushrooms are exciting new neural pathways.
I wonder in what kind of environments these people took the substance in. I know setting, and your own initial thoughts play a HUGE role in the experience. Psilocybin has single-handedly cured my depression personally, and now i am I much more active and ambitious person

I have partook in psilocybin, Ayahuasca and peyote. I am so glad these substances are making a "come-back". These are such a healing medicine given to us by Pachamama.
I would have thought the effects would have been more sustained at 10 mg. I could see psilocybin as a really great tool for people that are approaching treatment resistant depression (with anorexia or self harm), but are not at say 4+ years where TRD is robust. Like shuffling someone's deck a little bit before their pattern is even more integrated into their life. A bit more thinking around the negative, like how do we make someone's TRD less worse over a longer amount of time. My thought at least lol
Clinicians need to look more closely at the setting in which these trials are held. Being in a room often strange to the "patient", surrounded by people who regard you with a medical eye... these are not optimal conditions right from the outset. That the mushrooms could have as positive affect under such circumstances says a lot by itself. Take the subject to a safe, comfortable, outdoor spot of some natural beauty. Bring along a trusted friend, as well as the therapist. Pack a picnic lunch. Spend the day. Setting is key.

A valid point. Fortunately most studies already focus on these aspects.
If they say psilocybin had adverse effects I would be interested to see them up against traditional antidepressants. I guarantee those drugs get approved and pushed through having the same or worse adverse effects. I've suffered from depression my whole life and medication that was prescribed by my doctor had extremely bad side effects. psilocybin changed my life. Everybody within reason should have at least one experience. There is a reason it has been used for thousands of years, there is a reason it is illegal and the latter is not because its bad. It expands consciousness and certain groups do not want the public knowing this.
It's important to have a good mindset before tripping, otherwise the trip could become very challenging.
Thank you for everything you do Dr. NP :)

I am one of those who believe in the mirical effect of mushrooms. The thing is that those are natures medicin and although we need clinical studies, those therapies are not ment to be executed in a clinical or sterile enviorment, i would love this study to include succesd rates of retreat centers. I am pretty sure the effects would be more positiv.
Psilocybin helped but the effects didn’t last more than a month. And I did have psychotic episodes that required ER visits with higher does or during a tough or depressed periods, which are the norm for someone with depression. Psychedelics can be very dangerous and it is wishful thinking and dangerous ignorance to treat them as the panacea for treat,ent resistant depression. Also, what would they do for people with personality disorders and other mental disorders that can’t be treated with psychedelics?

have you read about the study that mixed Lion's Mane Mushroom with Psilopsybin? Maybe by mixing lion's mane, which stimulates dendrite activity, with Psilocybin would lock the effect longer. In my personal studies and readings over the years, it seems the anti-depressant effect of a just subperceptual dose of LSD seems to last longer than a similar just subperceptional dose of psilopsybin Mushrooms. Another option are a specialized type of counselor that acts as a Guide through a 3.5 - 5 gram experience. Interesting stuff, I did a paper on psychedelics for my Biopsychology course in school. I have always been interest in the good that they can do for the world. Thanks for the info :D
Watch at 1.5x speed. Thank you for the info.
Started macro-dosing twice a month for Bipolar 2. I stopped taking 2 out of 3 of my psych meds when I started taking Psilocybin. I've been going for 6 months so far. I get a boost in mood for about 5-6 days after each dose. But it hasn't affected some mania, like over spending. Overall it's been a very enjoyable experience.
Does psylosiben help with symptoms of cte? Confusion, disorientation, memory etc.. thank you
my son recently did some of this in Denver and has had horrible insomnia ever since. is there a link between this drug and difficulty sleeping?
@Neuropharmacist
Жыл бұрын
Not really. Acutely most psychedelics will promote wakefulness, and may make it difficult to sleep on the day of ingestion, but I've not heard of any lasting insomnia being associated with psilocybin. There are some reports of mania or hypomania caused by these drugs, which can cause insomnia. Chronic insomnia can be a serious condition and I would seek help from medical professionals if it is disturbing daily life.

Well then it’s mostly placebo effect from enjoying the trip I guess, the more hype the better. Otoh shouldn’t neglect the neurogenesis growth potential, but a lot of other things and foods have that too.
The company didn’t use fresh mushrooms, did they? They’re using a synthetic product. Right?

@@eballin45 I believe that in these states of altered conscience, there needs to be a connection to the passing of time and nature, like being outside to look at trees and clouds. I believe that there should be some blocking in the future to compare outdoor settings (with the freedom to return indoors) and indoors. The outdoors can keep someone tethered to reality and give someone a calm field of view compared to daunting artifical structures (in my opinion). What do you think?
@eballin45

@@pg-hd9nu we need the connection to nature in general no question. Beautiful amazing as is music art etc but as Terence McKenna says they are beautiful and amazing on their own. High dose in silent darkness..no outside stimuli..not smart for beginners but that is a completely different thing from microdosing to 'get through the days'. All depends on one's choice. Many if not all need the full experience(s) of it's true nature...the Ego needs. Doesn't want it but..THEY WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU NEED. NOT WHAT "YOU" WANT. there is so much side effects from "normal" psychiatric medicine. Compared to psylocibin it is'nt as harmful to the body than say abilify. If the 1mg ppl had adverse affect, and the 1&10mg ppl showed similar effects, seems like a gamble

There's no evidence for psilocybin having synergy with Lion's mane, and very little evidence for Lion's mane having any effects on dendrite function or therapeutic benefit. I don't find it impossible, but to me this looks more like a cash grab based on hype than a scientifically justified mix.
