No one has made me dream of trying hot pot more than you. I have an obsession with it even though I’ve never tried it 😂

the dessert at the end was so cute!! they did such a great drawing of mikey chen's icon! the food looks amazing as well, super glad it's relatively close to where I live!! hopefully ill be able to try it one day!

who here has been around long enough to watch mikey go from being the person who dumps everything in the hotpot to making hot pot an art???

You don’t have to order meat. Lots of veggies you can order and dip in various soup base

That. Looks. INCREDIBLE! I've never seen anything like that. Wow. Thank you for this video. I like that the table has its own hot pot setup that allows you to dip the meat yourself and try such a wide variety. Yes, there's currently no way for me to get to this spot but it was still nice to see a very different dining experience. Thanks!

That's the same concept as a hai di lao hot pot of even up to the entertainment. Most hotpots are just copycats of each other

I’m so glad you’re checking out the Rowland Heights area I live 15 minutes from there. There are definitely places I want to check out on Gale, Colima and Nogales.

That all looked AMAZING. That mask dancer and the live music was an inspired touch as well. I hope someday a restaurant like this opens in Dallas...*starts to dream*

There’s a Haidilao in Frisco that has all of this plus noodle dancing but a bit less fancy.

Qualitatively, I think he's usually pretty honest with regards to whether something is good or not. In terms of HOW good, I think he does sometimes exaggerate or minimize, especially when it comes to small businesses. Of course, how much he likes something is innately subjective.

​that's not correct. mike has said if he's reviewing a small business and doesn't like the food, he just won't make a video about it at all- his way he doesn't give a false review, but also doesn't hurt them. for large scale restaurants or establishments, he gives honest opinions. as for this video, he's eating his two favorite things- hotpot and waygu. why would he complain? being overly nitpicky isn't doesn't make you less biased lol

There is a hotpot place in my town that I love to go to. I decided to treat myself one day and tried the wagyu, it was the most amazing thing I've ever eaten, and the egg with it was so tasty. watching this makes me want to get hotpot tonight. love the video

I'm here in Japan and what Japanese is doing when feasting with hotpot or shabu shabu is, they will dip the meat first on the boiling soup and dunk it after on the egg.

wow i’ve lived in hacienda heights my whole life and never knew this existed.. and i always go to that plaza to eat at Slurpin’ Ramen! there’s a lot of good places in that plaza as well, (in case anyone was wondering) including Half & Half Tea Express, JJ’s Bakery, some good bun spots too

Anyone else notice the paper wrapper from the chopsticks fall into the hotpot heater and then see it again when they deliver the hot pot. I’m curious to know if that wrapper burned up during the meal and what it looked like after. I guess I’ll never know.

Mike screwed up the egg trick. You dip the meat in the egg AFTER its been in the soup. Gives it that sukiyaki style.

no no, he didn't. he isn't trying to mimic the Japanese method, he's copying how another restaurant in america offered him waygu in hotpot once, that's why he says "sister restaurant's trick". its on his channel called "lobster hotpot" or something

​@@NejiRaven is correct. Mikey was taught this technique in a high end wagyu restaurant and he has used this technique in other videos. You dip it in raw egg yolk and then cook it. This is not the other method of the egg yolk cooked in sous vide at 135˚F for one hour that you dip cooked wagyu in.
