Little story behind this magical moment: She was having very hard times in many areas (professional and private life, health, …) and was even having some suicidal thoughts (she wrote her song Parce que tu pars in this context). Her fan base knew it and connected with the pianist and music director to make her a surprise by singing the song Je t’aime to her.At the beginning, someone in the crowd says « chante pas Lara » which means Don’t sing Lara. The crowd sing On t’aime and she responds Je t’aime, in other words We love you / I love you. Everybody know this song that Lara wrote as it was #1 in France and has become a french classic. Lara later said this moment helped her a lot to go thru her hard moments and she understood the life was worth being lived. This moment in front of 8,000 people in Paris made the headlines TV news the day after.

And for 22 years now, every day I have listened to this song of mutual love❤❤ And to know that I was able to help her a little bit during a difficult time for her warms my heart. Oh and btw, Lara was having issues in her personal life and wasn't feeling good so in the song "je t'aime" means i love you, and instead of singing that, the crowd sings "on t'aime" which translates to "we love you". Truly beautiful❤️

More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. You may not add So Hyang (South Korea) to that list of the best, but I think she deserves to be there, and I am older and very aware of all of those on your list. I personally put Lara and So Hyang at the very top with their legendary performances. I find the main difference between those two great ones and the other great ones is that Lara and So Hyang emote straight to the heart of the audience. I am constantly stunned by the both of them. This moment at this concert is absolutely mind blowing. Have a great day!

Hi Sarah 🤗 Even though I studied French for 4 years in school, I never really enjoyed the language. I'm very careful not to be culturally chauvinistic, but I prefer the open, melodious sound of my forebears native Italian, not the more restrictive French pronunciations. I always enjoy your reactions, but this performance left me at the starting line, lol 🤣😆. Let me acknowledge, before I get pounded, that as an Italian-American, I'm not much of a fan of performances in languages I need to carefully translate or refer to subtitles. Still, it's always a treasure to see you enjoying something new. 👼🕊️🌹

Then you should check her italian songs: Caruso, Perdere l’amore or Adagio (the italian version) Lara is native in both french and italy languages and has spent her first 5 years in Sicilia in her mother’s family.

During the course of your education (in Nigeria, if I understand your background?), were you required to read or just offered the chance to read Chinua Achebe's novel "Things Fall Apart"? When I read that book in high school, I was so impressed I considered the author to be Nigeria's 20th century Shakespeare! Turns out I was right, he was the recipient of many awards. I'm just curious if you're familiar with the book and author, and would love to hear your thoughts. 👼🕊️🌹

Things fall apart by Chinua Achebe and half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche are my two favourite books! Absolute classic! And yes we were required to read things fall apart in high school🙂
