Here is the context: she was facing hard times, both on professional and personal sides, and the fan base knew it and wanted to show some support. They selected this song, her biggest french hit that everybody knew, and changed the chorus from "Je t’aime / I love you" to "On t’aime / We love you". I love the way she receives this surprises and after the shock immediately establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving room for them to sing with her. She later said that this uplifted dramatically her state of mind and helped her to through these hard times. This stunning interaction made headlines news the day after at the french TV Channels.

Je t'aime means: "I love you" and the audience sings: We love you (On t’aime). I think that every artist can only wish for fans who stand by you and take an interest when you go through a dark time. As far as I know she had a trouble time and she had also found out that Celin Dion (management) had prevented her career in the USA. Lara’s fans made an agreement with the pianist and sang the song for Lara. Have Celin Dion fans ever sung to her to comfort and support her? I think at that moment she felt that the USA is not the hub of the world and that she will have a great career like that.

Isaiah, as always, love your stuff. Our Queen was going through a rough patch in real life. Her adoring fans, and no one is more loved than Lara, knew about her troubles and gave her a lift. Even our Queen could use a boost now and again. Tearjerker level is 10\10. Her fans are singing 'We Love You" while Lara was attempting to sing 'I Love You" back to them in what became a lovefest between her devotees and the Queen, long may she reign.

This performance brings me to tears every time I watch it. Which is why I rarely watch it anymore. After being sidelined by Sony and fighting to be released, coming out of the horrible "Celine's the one and you shall not be" 90's, this was a big concert for her and the French people did not fail her. Such a touching, soul searing, beautiful performance by an elegant, humble and beautiful human. Sorry I haven't been around my friend. I have been tending to some medical issues. The crowd is on key !!!

This was a coordinated effort from her fans wanting to express their "Love" for Lara during a dark period in her professional and personal life which resulted in health issues and coupled by cruel comments by the French media. She began to question her existence and contemplated suicide. I believe a commenter in another reaction to Je t'aime stated that this was her 1st live appearance in a few years. The fans and pianist knew this was going to happen. Read that some 6000+ fans were given cards with instructions on what to do. You hear a faint cry from the audience at the beginning of the song "Don't sing Lara", hence the bewildered look on her face! She had stated in interviews that at this moment in time she knew life was worth living and subsequently crawled her way back into the light.
