In today's video we will explore Lapu Lapu City Public Market. Located in Mactan Island where the historic Battle of Mactan took place in 1521, the place named after Datu Lapu-Lapu, a native chieftain who defeated Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the battle. Lapu Lapu City, formerly known as Opon, was later renamed to honor the island chieftain. Until now, the locals still call the market as Opon Market, a place widely known for its barbecue stalls which become lively before dusk. But all day long the market is a good place to get everything you need.
