Addressing the laptops failed CPU cooler and mounting it in a new case, did not want to go down the route of fitting it into a PC case.

I have a Dell from about the same time floating around somewhere....hmmmm. Good for a couple of projects I can think of. Thanks!

It does not, I have the voltage set to about 9.5V so the fan is not spinning at maximum. The old heat sink block with fins, was about the size of a matchbox. So even if the CPU was at 100% I would think this would be enough cooling.

Just and idea... what about desensamblar some ports like VGA, and attash to extends it to another location?

I have a modern 8gen dell core i5 that I bought second hand and has the screen torn off but the computer still works great when plugged into external monitor I am thinking of building it into a pc case with som modifications to make it work obviously do you guys think it a good or bad idea.

In this video it was just sitting on top, the next video I mount a heat sink it by drilling holes, tapping them and with screws from the underside.

Is the motherboard mounted on wood?

6mm MDF on standoffs.

@@GESSO217 another option is just to remove the screen and use it as a keyboard computer all in one. A custom build in a new case is great too.

@@TheDutyPaid I would go with using the existing case, but it's in rough shape. Maybe I can salvage it but a custom case might be the better option.
