very good video; thanks for showing the M.2 wi-fi card. Very important to observe...only 1 antenna so you can only get 433 Mbps with 2 antenna I could upgrade and get 867 Mbps. alas, I am SOL with only 1 antenna in the laptop.

Ik this vid is almost a year old now but I do have a question. My laptop model is almost identical to this one but it is 4013dx model. My cooling fan physically is broken and I wanted to know if replacing it manually will save me the cost of $70 for parts and labor from a friend. I haven’t opened it yet till watching your vid it makes it easy thank you.

You can replace cooling assembly, there should be only few screws, you can find a bunch of them on ebay super cheap probably around 10$, make sure to re apply thermal paste.

lightoom kills the dy series i just got (pawnshop special) so I looked in the settings and its only showing 4 gigs of ram onboard. do some of these come with ram that low? or do you think someone has been in there? ordered some crucial ram to get it up to par, but just curious if you had seen 4 gig versions.

Ok, so I was given 1 of these laptops about a year ago, the owner said it needed a new hard drive. I'm mechanically inclined and can figure out some stuff. I've changed hard drives on PS4's many times but this seems completely different to me. Is the SSD Solid State Drive the actual hard drive? This is just something for me to experiment on, it cost me nothing so if I get it working great. I don't want to spend a bunch of money, $100 or more, to get it up and running. I'm calling it a learning session.

Ssd is a hard drive, just a different technology of storing info. You can buy one on eBay very cheap.

Do not think that it's an option. However any part on your laptop has sticker with a part number, which you can use as reference to look for a replacement.

Unmitigated have 3 options of Intel prpcessors- i3, i5 or i7 and I think there are few generations for this model

Does this have a cmos battery I’m asking because my laptop says cmos error and the main battery doesn’t even charge this is crap because I bout this 3 years ago and just turned it on for the first time. I opened it and see no cmos battery I want to know if I’m crazy. I saw no CMOs battery in this video hence the reason why I did not complete my own tear down.

Some of the laptops do not have close battery, try to update bios, change time in bios, possible replace the battery and run all updates

Do not think that you would be able to find any improvement for this model, the only advice is to clean all wents, cooler fan, heatsink and even reaply thermal paste.

This may sound dumb but I have alot of luck carrying a mobile battery powered fan to blow on it. Even better if it's propped and and u blow across top and bottom

1Try to move the lid back and force to see if the video cable is the issues. 2 while screen is black, try to connect laptop to external screen to determine if issues is the mother board or lcd screen. If you will get a picture on the external screen, , most likely it would be lcd issues which has to be replaced.

5 months later, but awhile back with this particular laptop, I had turned it off so that I could clean the screen and keyboard, and when I turned it back on, the screen was flickering really bad. I thought I had done something, but it turns out a driver needed to be updated. So that could be a possible issue.

I cannot remove the palm rest for the life of me, the back cover just will not come off I’ve taken off every screw

This has to be one of the most annoying videos I've ever watched. I get zooming in on each part to an extent, but the camera doesn't stay still for a single second throughout the video. It's like trying to watch a movie on a roller coaster.
