Thank you! I just got a lap steel this week and this is the best explanation I’ve found regarding why a c6 tuning is so useful.

Can you imagine being such a miserable person that you'd actually give this video a thumbs down? Great video! I'm new to the lap steel, so this was a very well explained video for knowing where the relative minor of a major chord is. Thanks!

What is sadder is a person who attacks others with whom they disagree. We all have different opinions there's no need to get personal just discuss the info.

@@TonyBurke100 Nope, going out of your way to thumbs down a person who is sharing knowledge to help others completely for free is definitely sadder. People like that need to get a life and stop being bitter, horrible gits. It's not about differing opinions, it's about having some appreciation for good deeds.

Les Black the 6 is what gives you the “steel” sound. Mainly the whole step between the 5 and 6 (middle strings)

Les Black it also gives you straight minor chords instead of the minor7 which is important. If you ever notice Pink Floyd rarely used minor7 chords (not never) but if you put the minor7 it sounds strange. Etc.

Thanks for the intro lesson. I believe it would be significantly easier to follow the diagram and your hand position if you shot this from your point of that. That is the same point of view we have, and thus it would eliminate the need to reverse everything we are seeing. For example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pHWGpcWQY6yWe5c.html

Hi Felipe, those are the same tuning. Sometimes people write the tunings from the low string to the high string (CEGACE) and sometimes from high to low (ECAGEC). C6 is the most versatile tuning for 6 string lapsteel in my own experience, the trick is to be able to mute strings in between the ones you want to sound.

Would it be possible to put the camera at a different angle? As if it were looking over your shoulder? As it is now, the instrument is reversed for the viewer. I wish I knew how to play lap steel.
