I didn't listen to Joy and blindbuyed it today, let's see what happens... I once smelled the old "Ted Lapidus pour Homme" from 1978 in the brown glass bottle and absolutely loved it. It was a very leathery and warm scent. But I've learned that that version is totally different than the version from 1987 which is presented here in this video. The 1978 version is called "Ted Lapidus pour Homme" and the 1987 just "Lapidus pour Homme" and, as mentioned, a totally different scent.

One thing I've noticed about the 80s powerhouse fragrances is just how many notes they have, usually 5+ in the top, heart, base whereas most modern fragrances have like 2 notes each in the top, heart, base, etc

I just bought it last week and it was the first time I ever heard of it. I learned about it from Fragrance Matt's video. This is my first time watching your videos, thanks- I enjoyed it, good humor too. I really enjoy this scent and the bottle design and box also.

Masterpiece of a review about a legendary beast of a frag!

First time i smelled this i felt in love instantly! I dont get all the hate for this gorgeous fragrance im 19 and I think this smells amazing especially in the Winter.

ted Lapidus review of yours was spot on..left a stain on my white shirt a few years ago so I didn't buy, though I think I will revisit it based on your review!!

In the fall of 1992, right at the beginning of my Senior year in high school, I had been introduced to Lapidus as a gift from my mother. And to this day, I still use Lapidus. I love it.

It's still great at the current formulation and I love it even if I was born in the 80's. For me it's way more classy than Kouros and definitely not as dated. Cheers! P.S. As you've mentioned 1992, I highly recommed Guerlain Heritage EDT and Cartier Pasha EDT.

Ted Lapidus is reformulated, just imagine how beastly the original formulation must have been, probably 1 week of projection. I also heard that they used to have a splash bottle of the original formulation too back in the day. Great review!

i can imagine what a beast it was...even bigger beast than it still is.i wore this during our winters...oh my, it lasts and projects like nobody's business.still as strong as the best performers out there. id look for a vintage which is unlikely to be found here, but may be someone can let me review one bottle from their collection, thanks brother :)

Just bought my bottle for about $16.00 with the discount, hehe. im only 26 but i appreciate older scents. it's for the man's man

Iconic perfume to say the least. My early start in the appreciation of perfumes started in my teens and kicked off with Karl Lagerfeld's - Photo, and journeyed through Kouros, Van Cleef & Arpels' - Tzar and then to the bad boy Ted Lapidus. Great review...after watching this I think it's time to revisit Ted 😀

Thank you Joy for such good frag reviews. You are honest in your reviews. I own kouros and lapidus. I must say Niche brands should take note and learn from the past.

I like your reviews- we all do One suggestion is to keep the same time amount BUT spray and test/ smell in the second minute then continue with all your interesting chatter 😎

I think I can summarise. If you are the type of snowflake that complained about Joy's first review, you probably won't like Lapidus 😂

You are one of many who had mentioned Kouros, and that it’s similar to Lapidus. I must get a bottle of it.

This stuff is awesome, really unique in this day and age. Not for everyone by any means but reminds of growing up in the 80's

Whenever I visit the fragrance counter I get a strip of TLPH to smell but I never buy a bottle because I can get it for cheaper somewhere else, only to find out that the cheaper vendor has run out of stock. Call me a sucker with an unsophisticated nose (I haven't smelled a lot of scents to be honest), but I LOVE TLPH and Tabac, holy shit I love them... I just love that "dated" vibe about them.

Dear Joy, thanks for the great review. Me and my Dad has been wearing Lapidus over 35 years now. You're right, that perfume or certain smells has power to take you back to your past. The movie "Perfume" explains it a lot. My dad used to wear Lapidus around late 80's to 90's. Later on almost a decade ago around 2008 I started wearing it when I was in university. I'm very fortunate that, every time I smell it, I can feel that vibe of my childhood or my school days depends on my thoughts. Also wish you a lot of luck for your channel, we don't see much youtubers like you from BD who can work on international standards.

I love Lapidus sooo much. I remember asking my female work colleague 22 years ago what she thought of it . I had a spray of it on paper which was 3 days old, I will never forget it. She was a fragrance head and a naughty girl to be frank. She said she liked it, sweaty ,a bit skanky sexy. That's no joke.

Just blind bought a 30 ml bottle of this prior to watching your review! Lol!!! Man that first hit was like getting sprayed by a skunk! I thought who the hell could ever like this stuff! But the dry down is incredible! And it hangs around a long time!!!

That aspect reminds me of Quorum. You have to make sure to spray it on at least an hour before leaving the house.

This parfum is good and complex, and if sprayed on skin, defeats body odour 10hours long.

Joy...good take on this frag, regardless of what happened, just plain stupid of YT! I got this dope bomb...picked it up last month from my grocery store...it was placed in a counter next to a bunch of Axe deos! Good potent stuff...trying to get the others from TL.

Al rehab's lord is also a similar smelling scent as lapidus. And one of the most decent oils from al rehab.

This was my favorite scent when I was in 11th and 12th grade high school in 1991 and 1992. I remember, it was a beast! I used to get a lot of compliments by girls in school.

The bad thing about Lapidus Pour Homme is that while it smells unique, because it's an 80s fragrance and our fathers and uncles and grandfathers wore it back then, it's considered an "old man's fragrance" in the U.S. and its territories. So wearing it in public amongst friends or relatives, there are no compliments received, but just comments about the 'old man scent'. I own it and only wear it at home, and even then, I don't like it too much because it doesn't smell as good as the vintage formulation, which had a lot of depth and nuance. It's a pretty linear and simple-smelling fragrance despite all the notes on paper. Unique, nice, but most average noses are too immature to it. This is a trained-nose fragrance for sure. God bless!

"Old man scent" rules!

Hello , I just want to ask about a perfume which was available in the nineties, I can’t remember it’s name, but I recall its package, the package had windmill with British rural home with British flag , and it looks similar to silver Lapidus perfume , if you have any idea about such description, please notify me,

smells like a first day of school in elementary. it gives me a youthfully warm vibe and a sharp lavender undertone. its nice. not in my top ten tho. more like top 30. must have in a beginner collection tho.

I'm the same way. I like Lapidus Pour Homme, generally love 80s powerhouses, and will spray it 4 times to get the ambiance. BUT I only do that if I am going to be by myself that day or at most outside with others. If you are going to be around people indoors, I only do 1 or 2 sprays, one neck area and one chest, on the skin not on clothes. I don't, however, agree with the comparison to Kouros except in the sense that it's a powerhouse and you only need 1-2 sprays. Speaking from my experience, compliments are better with Kouros. Not many women I know have complimented Lapidus PH, which probably means they're too polite to say they don't like it.

Nice review! wow, so now it's offensive to use the f-word on KZread huh? Weird times we live in... Anyways, this sounds like something I would absolutely hate :'-) But great video nonetheless! Can I ask you something off-topic? Have you ever tried Mugler's Angel Eau Sucrée? I know it's classified as a feminine fragrance. But seriously, this juice is so super delicious, it smells like you're in a candy store, and let's admit it, guys love candy as well! It's not as beastmode as the original Angel EDP, so quite easily wearable to work. I've been totally addicted to this fragrance lately, it reminds me of the time when I first discovered (and understood) Angel Men. Too bad it's a limited edition, I hope it gets some more love from the community.

That was a great review and fragrance was awesome. I have latest formulation of Lapidus but I found it to be underperforming. I get 3 hours of good projection (not beast mode as everyone mentions it). Either is it reformulated or its olfactory fatigue I don’t know. Could you please help.

You are much kinder than I with regard to anyone who would report you for language. Is this a new bottle or vintage? If new, undershirt sprays? That's pretty strong.

thank you sir. i just was fooling around while describing the scent...may be dropped the f word somewhere, its alright, just wondering how many people really wait all day to report and dislike others videos hehe. the new on still is pretty potent,i go under shirt because at times i comes out and i get whiffs of it...just a beautiful fragrance altogether

Hey Joy, greetings. I am 19 years old and wish to purchase this cologne, do you recommend it for me? What does it smell like? I haven't smelled it since there are no perfumeries that have it here in my city. (Not that i recall, maybe one in the city downtown could have it...) They say the opening is very potent green, herbal, citrusy, lavender, the heart notes pop out the rose and in the dry down you have very heavy smoky notes such as the incense and tobacco and a very heavy animalic, dirty, sex-smelling musk note in there. Which, is what i would actually want to wear, i lack a very animalic cologne... I have tried out colognes from back in the day and i frankly don't like very much modern day wears with excessive amounts of tonka, ambroxan and stuff... I prefer heavy notes like woods, masculine flowers such as rose, geranium, lavender, herbs, musk (Right now the heaviest musk that i wear is Polo Green) leather and stuff, and i would like this sex smelling animalic cologne, frankly. I find it for less than 20usd in a site here in Mexico and with the next payment from work or stuff i would love to get it... Do you find the animalic to be very prominent? Like kinda body excretion smell? Plus the sweet and floral notes and some other that lean it toward a clean barbershop kind of feel. I wish you the very best sir, take care, i await your answer.

@@keithc187 Hello there sir! I did got a bottle of Givenchy Gentleman '74, a nice animalic patchouli leather. It truly encapsulates the smells that i like, woods, leather, patchouli, a touch of sweetness, the civet is really interesting as well.

Heed my warning: make sure your bottle has the small bump on the bottom of the bottle. If not, your version has been reformulated and is much, much weaker.

Al Rehab makes a fragrance called Lord. It's a combination of Kouros and Lapidus PH. It's by far the most masculine ever created. It probably makes a woman pregnant by just smelling it

I’ve been through many bottles of lord and lapidus. Lapidus is way more masculine, lord is sweeter and smoother and lacks the strong musk and bitterness of lapidus

Master piece in my opiniom if you slap in a fancy name on it like tom for or amuage people will buy it for 200 dollare.

No. Its not weak, they use cheaper and synthetic ingredients. It no longer has depth of the incense and tobacco but has become a an unbearable synthetic bomb. I prefer the body spray.

I was 17 yrs old in 1987 I had this Power house And it was a Power house I put it on in the morning and by 5pm I still can fill a room as i walked in This has bin Reformulated and it is still a power house Imagine the Original 1980's version that i owned .Also there is no such thing as a Old man/Barber smell This is a Man's Smell .in yr 2023 A Real man's smelling Cologne have turned to female smelling EDT... That “fragrance” is effing gross! It’s more like an odour. It reminds me of a badly mopped floor of a public toilet.
