LAPEL PINS - HOW TO WEAR A LAPEL PIN TO MAKE IN IMPACT ON YOUR STYLE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Lapel pins may be a tiny element of the typical gentleman's wardrobe, but they can have a disproportionate part to play in making a positive impression when you meet new clients, co-workers, bosses or friends.
In this video I discuss how I use my collection of lapel pins to weaponise a small element of my personal style to maximise my first impression when I meet people.

Nice video Ash. The veterans badge has also been a conversation starter for me on many occasions. You straight away have something in common when you spot a familiar lapel pin.

Ash, you’ve got great content! I can’t believe I only discovered your channel a few months ago, and that you don’t have a few hundred thousand subs. Even the presentation on this older stuff is great 4:50 “weaponize your style” 🔥

I was approached by a chap, when on a family day out, as I was sporting a Hammer and Pincers lapel pin. He recognised a common affiliation. We had a nice chat and departed slightly happier for the encounter.

Seeing this reminds me to mention a good alternative to lapel pins... I have a pretty large collection of odd antique shirt studs... Everything from Victorian era, up to the present day. I sometimes find them singly at sales or in thrift stores... They make wonderful adornments to the button hole on one's lapel. Cheers!

Hello Ash, I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I am hooked. We have a few things in common. I use Tabac fragrance, I like my discrete yellow gold flower lapel pin and I enjoy running, btw congrats on your very respectable half-marathon time. I am 62 and about to retire after 40 years in my career but I am starting my second career. I have become an Independent Stylist for the J. Hilburn Menswear line of clothing. So obviously I find your sartorial videos very interesting! I look forward to more of your content in the future and I hope to have a buckwheat pancake soon.

welcome to the channel, great to hear that you have found us - sadly I have been unable to run for a few months now due to an injury (broken collar bone), but as soon as I'm able, I'll be right back out there getting fitter again. I was not aware of the j. Hilburn brand, so I looked it up - some seriously nice apparel there! I envy you the opportunity to work with such quality kit - enjoy the new job. Best regards, Ash

Nice video. There is no general veteran's lapel pin in the US, but there are others available. There is a Bronze Star lapel pin which I wear on occasion (awarded in Vietnam). I wear a crossed flag pin when traveling, US and the country I am visiting. Always well received. The government did distribute through Veterans organizations a 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War pin. Right now, I wear a US and Ukraine crossed flags pin as a political statement, also well received. Your UK veterans pin is quite beautiful. I am a bit jealous.

I have only two lapel pins. One for my Alma Mater, the University of Pennsylvania, and one with the shield of the Episcopal Church. I rarely wear them. Usually I wear the Penn one for a Penn function, and of course the shield to church and church functions on special occasions. However, I almost ALWAYS wear a boutonniere.

I mostly wear the one pictured (national honour award) and the odd military badge, but I do have a few boutonnieres. They certainly add a dash of flair!

Now that was some very useful information. I have quite some Lapel pins but only few relating to myself therefore I will get rid of the inappropriate ones buy giving them away. Boutoniere flowers on the other hand are hard to find and expensive. Would you know perhaps where to get some or maybe how to make your own? Thank you and cheers.

I recently bought a few from the Etsy app, I don't know where you are in the world if that is an option for you, but they were very reasonably priced. Otherwise, I should aim for ebay - also a good venue for engaging with small retailers.

@Vic & Lucy: If you're still interested... Sebnitz in Saxony has been the German centre for artificial flowers. So if you go to these websites, there could be something of interest. The sites are a bit confusing really, but maybe it's worth your time, and the flowers are quite modestly priced too. Sometimes cutting them up helps too. www.dekotreff.com/kunstblumen-seidenblumen deutsche-kunstblume-shop.de/Feld-und-Wiesenblumen
