All this awkward comedy that's sprung about recently yet nobody gives Lano & Woodley any praise or respect for working awkward into their act before it was popular or really recognized as a form of comedy, nobody really recognizes them as the comedy legends that they are, mostly because they're Australian and they focused much of they're career in Australia.

LV Power that's 'cos the marx brothers, charlie chaplin and buster keaton came first.

Devil's Advocate So that diminishes Lano & Woodley's comedic value entirely? Being inspired and attempting to reintroduce that style of humor with their own form into a largely talentless comedy scene and executing it so seamlessly doesn't make them worthy of being called 'underrated'?

LV Power where did I say that this should diminish their comedic talents? "nobody gives Lano & Woodley any praise or respect for working awkward into their act before it was popular or really recognized as a form of comedy"- that's because they really weren't the first.

I never said they were the first, all I was saying was that they are underrated and not regarded as high as they should be. You seemed to be comparing them to simple clones or thieving hacks when mentioning the Marx Bros and such, of course they drew a great deal of influence from those you mentioned but their own personalities incorporated into their act to forge their own sort of brand of slapstick and that should really make them an influence in comedy, at least in Australia. They introduced that style of comedy to generations who would never look back at old Three Stooges tapes or anything like that and did it at a time when no one else did in Australia, that's what I was saying.

LV Power ah, okay. I'm 19 and not an Aussie, I'm just a fan of the classics and of Aussie TV (Wilfred, Thank God You're Here, Hamish and Andy, The Adventures of Lano and Woodley, Woodley). I did not intend (and do not believe I did) compare them as 'hacks' or 'clones'. I was simply making the point that they don't get the recognition for doing something before it was popularised, as they... didn't. I believe they became 'comedy legends' in Australia- and for good reason. However, much like Stewart Lee and Richard Herring's fabulous and brilliant partnership, their legacy has waned.
