DogDay was talking us about the Smiling Critters that crawl beneath our skin and eats what feel empty inside themselves, so when the chase scene arrived, you can hear DogDay gargling and he couldn't even talk. That means that the Smiling Critters eated his insides and his vocal cords at the point that when he jumpscares us, his voice just sounds scratchy and unrecognisable Hope this helped!
