If you are not from a Slavic country as I am for example all besides English all the other languages are similar because they are all from the Slavic branch and to us the sound completely the same! They are the same in a 50-60% in matter of sounds, letters, and vocabulary but then each one has some differences from the other! Russians, Ukrainians, Polish, Serbians, Bulgarians, Czech, Slovenians, Slovakians, Croatians… they can understand one another. Not 100% but in a conversation they can understand the general meaning!

Eurovision needs subtitles. This means people can sing in native languages without meaning being lost to the English-speaking audience. They can be added in locally on top of the main broadcast in the broadcast language
@passingextraterrestrial
The BBC does make an effort to provide subtitles but sometimes they don't come through at appropriate times and/or miss multiple lines. It would be nice if this was more universal. Edit: also, I'm yet to see subtitles in the language the song is actually sung in (maybe they've done it for like French and I missed it) but makes an attempt at providing English translations instead.
@Liljaneito

In Finland, we already have the songs subtitled :D But Finland has a strong subtitling culture, adults' programmes are pretty much never dubbed, except for some documentaries with a background narrator. I think at least Estonia does subtitles in Eurovision already as well?

Nowadays it feels like a contest of who gets most praise for being authentic… and I love it cuz it brings national language diversity backq

I think that Ireland and Malta should send something in irish and maltese (Aidan it's up to you) respectively.
If Piña colada counts as Spanish then 30% of English speaking songs are technically 30% French as their words originated in Normandy.
