Yes! I find that color-coding the subject, verb, object, etc. in Korean helps me understand so much better. Fascinating, inspiriational video, as always. Great motivation.

How difficult is it to study so many languages? I'm having trouble with one language. I must be doing something wrong.

There’s no one way to do it - I like to jump around between different languages (although I usually have one in particular that I’m focusing on more) while other people prefer to focus on one at a time. Both ways are fine! One thing I’ve found helpful in studying multiple languages is to try to pick two very different languages (from different language families, for example) so that I confuse them less in my head....ie Korean & Italian; Arabic & Spanish; etc - I also prefer to focus on one different alphabet system at a time (so, while Arabic and korean are very different, as an English speaker, they would each require me to learn a new writing system, so I’d rather not learn them together....once I’ve learned the alphabet for one completely, I could then focus on the second). Hope that makes sense!

Sunshine & Stationery Cool! I'm currently learning Esperanto. I thought that once I study this for the rest of this month and August, that I'll move onto another language for each month, learning the basics. I plan on using the language after the month is over, but move onto yet another language. I want to at least learn most of the languages from my heritage.

When you study it for a while you get a rhythm, so it's kind of automatic learning. When I reach that kind of rhythm I start another language studying :) Another thing you should pay attention is that you will get confused sometimes, as I heard, new languages (not our native) stay in our right side of the brain, so when you forget a word in the new language you're learning you will say that word in the language you already know and it's ok! You just need to get the rhythm and practice a lot :)

Omg I'm learning Italian n Korean too !

Hey I love your system! If you're still a beginner in Korean, I'd recommend the First step Korean and Korean 1 by yonsei university in Coursera. They have short videos explaining the basics in a very detailed way. I use their course and ttmik and I feel that they complement each other really well. And for Italian I'd recommend taking advantage of their huge movie industry. I am intermediate in Italian and I think that Argento movies are amazing in Italian and fairly easy to follow.

I am trying to learn French (or at least not forget what little I do know). What music do you like to listen to in French? I imagine that is more of just in daily life, like speaking, for you. The only band I really have listened to in French is Indochine, and while I really do like there music I would like to listen to more than just them.

Love it😍 I just started a language journal and did this thing where you have the whole month and color the day in where you studied, listened, watched etc. But why do you have these numbers on the left page after "study" or "listen" etc.? I would really like to know😂

Have you found the talk to me in korean textbook/workbook helpful? Ive been considering asking my parents the 1-5 set for christmas, however from what i've read online, textbooks aren't all that helpful, and if thats the case, I dont want to ask my parents to buy them, only to not use them at all

I think it’ll definitely depend on the language you want to learn and what resources are actually available. For example, I didn’t structure my Korean studies much because I follow the Talk To Me in Korean podcast which is already pretty structured. I do try to add in other things - so I may do 1 to 2 TTMIK lessons a week but then I also try to listen to music in Korean a few days a week or watch YT videos about Korean culture or watch a few episodes of a Kdrama. I truly don’t have a true structure (like a weekly schedule) outside of trying to vary the activities I do. It also depends on the language: I read a lot in French but don’t listen to much music or watch much TV; I listen to a lot of music in Spanish and talk to friends, but I don’t always read that often... Hope that’s helpful in some way!

I used to have a Spanish visual dictionary that was organized by topic (good for vocabulary, not so much for grammar....) have you tried apps like memrise or duolingo? Unfortunately, I don’t know of any books in particular...😔

Sunshine & Stationery Okay. I will look into the apps. I think vocabulary is best for me at this time because of my history of procrastination. If it gets to difficult I shut down. Would be different if I actually went to class because then I’m forced. Just the few words that I do know has been a great help but now I want more...:-). Thank You very much.

I use duolingo and occasionally busuu . But you can also try memrise and babbel. They are all good apps. I am learning Spanish too.

I think it depends on what your goals & learning style are : I’ve heard of some people who organize each day by type of activity (I.e. Monday for grammar; Tuesday for vocab, Wednesday for listening, etc) I’m not currently studying any languages to that level (I’m just doing it for fun) but I like to alternate between lessons and passive activities (like listening to music or watching videos/tv). the most important part of studying a language is generally finding a way that you enjoy it generally study as much as you find enjoyable. luckily they are pretty similar, but in my case as a native english speaker switching from italian to spanish in school it was actually really confusing but you'll have better luck as a native speaker probably listening to things like podcasts and music, even if you don't understand them at first, helps a lot, as does journaling, learning the most common phrases, and researching the grammar also I'm sorry that this is in english my spanish would disturb you its impressively bad

I agree that you should find enjoyable ways to practice - as long as you like it, everyday is fine! I find that, once I start getting bored or frustrated, taking a break helps me come back with renewed motivation!

I only typically have one or two languages that I’m working on as a beginner; the rest are ones I’m keeping up - ex: I speak Spanish & French pretty well, so I keep them up by reading or listening to music, etc; I’m learning Italian and Korean so I do more “studying” but also listen to music and watch shows in the language ☺️

I find that I can study two languages if they are very different (for example, I would study Korean & Italian together but not Italian & Portuguese) As for starting a new one...that depends on why you’re studying them & how diligent you are...since I’m studying for fun, I tend to focus on one or two languages for a longer time because my progress is a bit slower (I don’t usually study intensively); Luca Lampariello has so fabulous articles about learning multiple languages - they might be helpful for you!

Guys let me tell you a secret the best way to learn a language is not through books but by speaking to a native speaker. Did u study books to talk your mother tongue when u were a baby. No u practiced saying the same thi g over and over.
