Tandem is an online language learning community with millions of members from all around the world. Last year, we introduced live audio rooms to the Tandem app, called “Language Parties”. Members can join Language Parties to practice their speaking skills or just listen in. What happens at Language Parties? How are they used for learning? And what impact do they have on learning journeys and the lives of learners? We will share our insights and discuss what the future of social language learning might look like.
Tobias Dickmeis is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of the language exchange community Tandem, based in Berlin/Germany. Since launching the Tandem mobile app in 2015, more than 23 million members around the world have joined the community to practice 300 different languages together and learn from each other.
Michelle Kubitza is responsible at Tandem for organizing and hosting Language Parties and building partnerships with other language learning companies, teachers and influencers. Her latest passion has become teaching her native language to expats in Germany and learning about their cultures in return.
