Langar Mata Khivi Ji (Khadur Sahib) | Historical Gurdwara Tours

Learn about the amazing history of Mata Khivi Ji, the wife of the second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad Dev Ji.
In this video, Bhai Harman Singh visits the place where Mata Khivi Ji prepared and served Langar (blessed free food) to all. Mata Ji was specifically known for the Kheer (rice pudding) that she made with so much love it tasted like nectar, so much so that it is also mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
ਬਲਵੰਡ ਖੀਵੀ ਨੇਕ ਜਨ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਛਾਉ ਪਤ੍ਰਾਲੀ ॥
balvandd kheevee nek jan jis bahutee chhaao patraalee |
Balwand says that Khivi, the Guru's wife, is a noblewoman who gives soothing, leafy shade to all.
ਲੰਗਰਿ ਦਉਲਤਿ ਵੰਡੀਐ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਖੀਰਿ ਘਿਆਲੀ ॥

She distributes the bounty of the Guru's Langar; the Kheer, the rice pudding and ghee, is like sweet ambrosia.

For Sikhs, There is one omnipresent and timeless creator. Names used for the creator are many but some commonly referred to are Akal Purakh (Timeless being), Waheguru (wonderous enlightened), and Parmatma (Supreme Light/soul). Guru Nanak (or Guru Nanak Dev Ji) is the creator transended into the world in human form. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's light (or the creator's avatar) then passed through 10 human bodies before merging again to the formless state and continue to work through Gurbani (Words of the Guru's in scripture), and the Khalsa (Guru's created army for truth, or collective Sikh community of surrendered Sikhs). Here of the names of the 10 Guru's: 1. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib ji 2. Sri Guru Angad Dev Sahib ji 3. Sri Guru Amar Das Sahib Ji 4. Sri Guru Ram Das Sahib Ji 5. Sri Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji 6. Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji 7. Sri Guru Harrai Sahib Ji 8. Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji 9. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadhur Sahib Ji 10. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji External Guru (Gurbani): Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and The Guru Khalsa Panth. Your welcome to search the Basics of Sikhi youtube channel for various long and short videos of the life of each Guru Sahib Ji. May I recommend starting with the 12 weeks 12 Guru's Katha series.

Sir can u please give me answer bout my confusion regarding hard work for a better life will be counted in materialistic desires and not giving eqaul time to god is a sin or not ? Plz answer ..i read guru granth sahib g everyday and I've learnt that we shouldn't think bout desires these will not go with us after death and meditate for lord ....what does this mean sir ? Having a managed life with family and god is a sin or not ...as gurbani says in starting 1 - 30 angs that we should join sadh sangat and sing praises of that divine for the whole day we should only have hunger of naam instead of food or unnecessary desire ...I'm confused ...if I'm meditating to god daily and also thinking bout my future so that i can improve my financial status and fulfill my parents desires in future ..would this be a sin for me or not ?

Guru sahib tells us to live spiritually detached which living a householders life. It is definitely not a sin to fulfill family responsibilities, in fact it is our duty. It only becomes negative when we forget the bigger purpose of life to connect with Waheguru and push ourselves away from the Naam of Waheguru entirely. To balance this, Wake up early in the morning and do simran/nitnem. Then continue on with your work day and responsibilities while living in Waheguru’s remembrance as much as you can. Complete Nitnem in the evening again and before sleeping. During the day take out time to listen to Keertan and Katha of Gurbani. And regularly make efforts to attend Sadhsangat, minimum as weekly basis. Serve to others before eating as well. While doing all this positive, avoid the negatives of slander, vices, faithless songs etc. In this way you can begin finding that balance. It will eventually grow into constant remembrance and bliss.
