That amp is sweet! I've always wanted a Laney. I've been battling health problems, but play guitar in a room by myself, for therapy, lol. This reminds me of my days of youth jamming along to Black Sabbath.

I've owned this amp for a couple weeks now and it's amazing. For me I'm able to get the exact tone I'm after. The cleans are really nice and, as I prefer less OD than more, I'm able to get a nice lightly overdriven tone that really shines. This amp really is a tweaker's playground. I am still dialing in my favorite tones. If you have the opportunity to pick one up do not pass it by.

I bought this amp the last september... AMAZING!!! Perfect cleans and the range of saturation of the two channels is too smoth! You can obtain a 100% clean sound, and you also can obtain a heavy rock dirt sound!! The power is incredible, the only little bad thing is the reverb, but in general the amp is AMAZING

Is it a reliable amp since it is made in China? I have tested Laney Lionheart L5T-112 at store, it also has a digital reverb and sounds very warm like a spring reverb.

@@bulenterdem1977 Imo the biggest actual change from a product like this being made in china vs england, both being pcb, would probably be the quality of the wood in the cabinet. if the design is the same that would be something that might be different in both products. i dont really know if much else would change.

So… I’ve had this amp since mid august (2021) , and until this moment I had no clue there was a tilt back bracket! It’s 11:41 pm 12/31/2021 so a little late to play it tilted in my apartment complex, but I’m stoked to try it tomorrow! Was debating on using my angled stand , but I’ve found it leans amps more than I’d like (for me playing in the living room) so was leaving flat on coffee table feeling stumped on how to get a safe non rigged (like on a book etc) slighter tilt….I know it doesn’t take much to get me excited 😜🤟🏻🤘🏼🤙🏼✌️🎸🎶

probably the bedt amp price-value in tje market ... I quite don't understand why Laney in this segment is so underappreciated ... this amp can compite side by side with any high cost traditional brand amp.

is it really possible to get very clean sounds, even though the two channels are drive? I want besides the drive to use the amplifier as a pedal platform, would it deliver this function to me with quality?

Is it just my impression or the early GH, VC and VH series were more 80s british distortion? because this new GH series sounds more american.

At about 5:35 it definitely sounds more like a Boogie lead tone, even though this is an EL34 amp, not 6L6. It's that ultra compression. I've not tried this amp out in person so I don't know what else it can do but yes, you're right, it does sound more on the American side. I live in SoCal, which was always known as the home of the American sound, where Fenders and Riveras are made, where Boogies first gained popularity in the session scene, etc. While I do love elements of the American sound, I still prefer a pure British sound and love my Marshall DSL 20 combo. I've owned many amps, including Boogies, Fenders, many Marshalls, Hiwatts, and just prefer the British tone. There's a reason I prefer British tone to American. When you push 6L6 tubes into overdrive, the downside is too much compression. This is the polar opposite of how EL34s behave. Of course, amps can be voiced to modify the natural characteristics of their power tube section. In the case of this Laney, at least from the lead setting, it would appear they built in this higher level of compression. What I don't like about high levels of compression is they take too much control from the player. I love the sort of symbiosis that occurs between a player and a cranked Marshall. It's a sort of interaction that has shaped rock guitar for decades now. With too much compression this seems to go away. It becomes boxy. I mean, could you imagine Schenker getting his golden 70s tone through Boogies? No way. Those are cranked plexis, usually 50 watts, working that magic with his playing. Carlos Santana is on record for hating the tones of most post Mark IIC + Boogies. I remember an interview where he said Mark IIIs were "harsh, trebly and annoying." I new just what he was talking about. I've owned a Boogie 50 Cal + combo and a Studio .22 combo which were great. The reason I went for these two is they had more of a British tone. The overdrive was more on the spongier side, rather than that dark, thuddy Metallica overdrive Mesa emphasised from the Mark III onwards. The other drawbacks of the Mark series for me is just too many knobs. I don't like amps that are that complex, not because I'm a thickhead of anything, but because amps need to be aimed straight at the heart of tone. With the Studio .22, .38 Special and 50 Cal, Mesa hit the motherlode of tone. My favorite Mesa currently in production is the 25 watt Rectoverb, although I don't like the larger Rectos at all.

The amp has a wide range of tones available. It takes some time twisting the knobs to find what you're after as the controls are very interactive. But it is possible to get a great distorted tone from this amp. The cleans are very nice so one could always simply use an OD pedal.
