Landscapes In Norway: Days 1 & 2
Check out my Patreon for loads of extras: / dgriffgallery
In this landscape photography video I share the first two days out with my camera in northern Norway. A visit to Lofoten on day one and then around the northern areas of Hinnøya island on day two. I'm travelling light with just a PEN-F, 9mm and 20mm prime lenses and a 35-100 kit lens. Find out how I got on with these lightweight and compact options.

It was a pleasure to have you visiting. I also enjoyed myself. It was a good experience to observe how you did your photography. The meaning of long exposure has changed for me. I then refer to the time and detail you used before taking the picture. On this I have to improve. It definitely is a major difference in doing photography and just taking pictures. Also fun to have my moment of fame. Best wishes from the man with the hat. 🤠

Thanks again! 😊👍
In the video, David asks me about the name of a berry. I called it wolfberry. It is the direct translation of one of the many Norwegian names for it. In Norwegian it is Skrubbær. Skrubb is one of the names for the wolf. Dwarf cornel, bunchberry, or Lapland corner are the English names for it. The Latin name is Chamaepericlymenum suecicum, syn.: Cornus suecica. Its leaves are bright red in autumn. Not surprised that David wanted them in the foreground

They gave the foreground a nice splash of colour 😊👍
I think I saw my house in the middle of your video. :)
A stunning location Dave with fantastic photographic opportunities. Outstanding.
Wow....such beauty! Happy you are able to enjoy it, your photos are outstanding. Thank you for sharing; with this trip and outstanding photography in your pocket you may well be the only participant in the next pubcast.

Hi Dave, there are times you look at a shot and say to yourself " that'll do!" ... being a Yorkshireman, we're not known for effusive comments, but truly in those shots I said it so many times. I worked in the southern part of Norway some years ago, and althogh I had no camera the images stay with me. We were also lucky enough to have the tall ships come in too. I'm really looking forward to the next episode with you and the man in the hat. ... thanks for sharing.

Lovely video Dave , looks absolutely stunning with great images.🙌
Great Vid & Fantastic photos Dave, What a beautiful part of the world.
Some lovely images in there David and a really subtle treatment. I like the one at 14:17 with the reindeer moss lightening up the foreground. I am not a great traveller but what I see of Norway from Oddbjorn and now your pictures is really appealing. Thanks.
Stunning photos David. As usual a lovely video but whoah those shots 👏👏👏 Thank you

Hello Peter, yes I'm currently working on arrangements to revisit with snow on the ground 😊👍
Beautiful images, i was 2019 at Lofoten.
Wonderful photos and thought you did a great job with the action cam for video as well! Beautiful country!
Many thanks Dave for the vlog, and to Willie for hosting your visit. Fantastic location, especially the smooth boulder beaches, really nice shots and a pano's paradise. Once again hats' off to Willie. Ideal place for a group meet !!
Very nice video 👍🙂
Absolutely stunning David. Your images are brilliant and thanks to your host for inviting you. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place. ❤
I thought there was plenty of B roll to set the scene, the images spoke for themselves. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah, in the end I managed to cobble enough together! 😊👍
Great shots Dave. I visited Norway on a cruise about 10 years ago but the constraints of the trip meant I didn't get out and about in the landscape as much as I'd have liked. I have considered taking the car over but it's just so blooming expensive! But absolutely stunning country. Looking forward to the second part.

It's not too bad cost-wise to fly / drive. AirBnB is quite competitive for accommodation. I've been scoping it out for a return visit! 😊👍
Beautiful video David, excellent shots, that is a beautiful location. Pretty impressive that little Pen F. Thanks again for taking us along.
Just wonderful. You are showing the beauty of Norway well. Thanks for sharing
Ah some stunning images there Dave. I drove home through that area from Lofoten and also found it enchanting. I still have my Lumix 35-100mm f/2 8, a cracking lightweight lens, I need to use it more. Sitting out Storm Agnes in Cemaes just now, stunning coastal scenery

Yes it’s a tad breezy over here too 😁
Stellar scenes, David. I'm glad you're getting to use each of the lenses you brought. And the Pen F comports itself very well indeed.
Hi! Nice video and photos! The beach you had no idea where you been is Uttakleiv 😉.

What a beautiful part of the world. Jagged peaks and stunning rocky costlines. Blows anything we have in the UK away for sure but did remind me of a more rugged lake district, not miles away from what we have but certainly more "epic" for want of a better word.
Beautiful, I can imagine these in the snow David. Only been to Norway once, 41 years ago when I was 10 with school, let’s just say that Oslo Airport had a wooden roofed walkway, I did take quite a few snapshots on my mums 110 camera but they’ve disappeared over time, ( my mums ex decided to dump a load of photos, I only found out years later ) Thank You for interrupting your holiday to show us this amazing place, really do appreciate it
A beautiful place! Nice images. Thanks for taking me along!
Takes me back to January 1986 when I spent 3 months in Norway. Mostly in the central area (Lom) and later further north living in snow holes. Unfortunately it was before I took up photography so has always been on my bucket list to return one day 😁
Beautiful shots and with blue sky, very pleasing. 3 & 4 bring it on. Some of those hills look so steep and there must be some great climbing over there too.
What a fantastic adventure! Incredible scenery and great set of images Dave. And what a lovely chap Willie is for inviting you. Looking forward to the next episode. 👍

Yes mate, my global circle of friends are unbelievably generous and I'm very grateful to all of them 😊👍
Beautiful images David. I went to Norway in 1965 as a 19 year old having shipped my motorcycle from uk to Bergen.. I covered quite a distance and as you said the scenery is dramatic and ours in Snowdonia, nearby to where I live on the coast, is shall we say not quite as dramatic. I still have my slides (remember them) from my trip.
Looks fabulous David, thanks for sharing
Beautiful photography, thank you David.
Wonderful images! Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Outstanding work. That little travel camera is performing beautifully.
Beautiful location

Dave you bugger! I didn't think I'd need or want a Lumix 35-100. Now I do. Why would I want a 20mm f1.4? Now I do. Laowa 6mm f2? nah, not for me. Wrong! You sir are costing me money! On a serious note what wonderful scenery and images. Can't wait for the next installment. And what a gentleman Willie is. Lovely guy. Envious from Worcestershire. A'r rygbi? Am gêm! Dewch ymlaen Cymru!

We love Norway and have been to the south numerous times over the years. So you actually did just take the Pen F? You're a better man than I!

Yes, just the little PEN-F, but Willie had gear I could use if necessary. Although when I go back I'd probably use the OM-5 for weight saving, but a little easier to use. 😊👍
Did you use ND filters on this trip? Your images are wonderful? I’ll be in Norway, on a cruise, and debating the MFT gear I need to take….

Hello Howard, thank you so much watching my video and for your generous feedback. Yes, I always carry a small set of Kase circular magnetic filters. I use the 77mm diameter which is wide enough to handle all of my lenses with step-up rings where necessary. They are very small and light and stackable for carrying, so they go everywhere with me. I have the following five filters: CPL, GND8, ND8, ND64, ND1000. 😊👍
Beautiful composition in a beautiful land. Your guide looks as if he's using the 12-100?
