Landscape Painting Practice · 30 Ways to Fill a Sketchbook · SemiSkimmedMin
Studying some landscapes today; painting a mountain scene and a warm sunsetty forest plus a couple of studies of clouds all in gouache. Not a lotta chit-chat in this one, hope you enjoy!

You should definitely add some landscape prints to your shop. They always turn out so beautiful! I love your videos so much, stop worrying about having to talk all the way through them lol. The whole aesthetic and vibe of your content is amazing. I know you are probably somewhat of a perfectionist, and I can personally relate...but trust me, your videos are something special.

Thank you so much, that's really encouraging :)
Omg you're great! Idk how you just... do it. It takes me a lot more practice and planning to not even achieve what you end up with! Aa I love you and your art so much!!

Thank you so much 💕💕
I love this practice technique! Years ago, I would pause the DVD on my favorite movies, including the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice and do simple color studies, blocking everything in as you did here, but on a larger scale. I have loads of travel photos as well which I want to start working with. I want to start creating small-scale paintings and doodles. This is wonderful inspiration and doesn't seem so daunting! Brilliant!
I feel like you deserve so many more subscribers! I love your videos and as an illustrator myself I can appreciate how hard it is to work on your art everyday - let alone make videos about it too! So just wanted to remind you of how amazingly you're doing.💪🏻 smashing it!!

Thank you so much for this Sophie, I really appreciate it 💕💕💕
I love your style so much but I love your nails equally as much I have to watch the video twice First time to appreciate the art and the second time to appreciate your nails!!!! Ilysm
"Just laying down paint until it looks right" I like that approach! Especially because I often get too caught up in the "proper" way to do things. Sometimes I get so concerned about the order and technique that I forget to check if my painting even looks good
Your art continuously amazes me tbh
I am in awe! It's so amazing to watch these come to life on paper.
Loved watching the forest scene, layer and develop and change and grow.
this one might bemy favorite day so far!
Your landscapes are some of my favorites!! Great content. I love this 30 day thing! :)
Hoping to see more of the landscape videos particularly trees and clouds. Doing them with the gouache was really challenging! I enjoyed this series so much! I look forward to the videos a lot.
Being an architecture student this channel gave me the boost I need to keep my creativity in check and to expound more on my freehand skills. ur work is just too glorioussxs.
I'm so glad I found your channel! I've been uninspired lately and your videos are helping me get through it. Thank you for that!

I'm so happy I found your channel. will definitely use this series as a guide for my own sketchbook and an outline for my portfolio. thank you so much for this.
Your videos are a joy to watch, I can see you enjoy making them as you do making art.
I love your vids! And I've learned so much from watching them. I really enjoy your vibes as well. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Minnie! I've been watching your videos for the past week or two. Just started doing art and absolutely love everything you do. Love your openness and your style. Thanks for sharing what you do. As someone who is just starting getting into art your videos are totally inspiring me and making me excited to fill sketchbooks. I love your landscapes. These were truly beautiful. Thanks!
wow i love the last one you did!!! amazing!!
I LOVE this video so much, your art is amazing. I am not an artist but I love watching your video, they are so soothing and your approach of showing all the process of your pieces, making it ok to make mistakes just make me feel really uplifted and motivated to do things, not worrying about making them perfect, but really enjoying the process and getting better
I really appreciate this series of videos. It is nice to see your approach to practicing a variety of different things! I tend to draw and paint people (especially portraits) but I really want to become better at other things as well :)
Just discovered your channel and I love it so much!!! So excited to get supplies to practice some art! 😍
Truly enjoyed this video! Your work is beautiful.
Wow this is excellent ! My favourite one so far out of these episodes . 🗻🌳☁
That mountain one is so perfect I love it!
I prefer this kind of video of 10 minutes, 4 minutes is not enough
Another thing you could try for a looser painting, if no one has already suggested it, is putting your reference picture behind you or off to the side so you look at it less, or only allowing yourself to look at it a certain amount of times or just once even.

That's a great tip, haven't heard that before! Thank you :)
Your art, and art process is really inspiring darling, the freedom your practiced hands give to your motions in the process of painting is exceptionally uplifting. Thank you, i realy enjoyed whatching this video.

It's so satisfying watching your videos and seeing how you create and work towards the finished piece. It would be cool to know and see if you use reference photos with these landscapes because all the colours and shapes look so realistic and right. Your art and videos are so good and I wanted to say thank you for once! This video saved my monday morning haha
Lovely forest at the end! I like the progress, the journey :)

Thank you for posting this! I've been thinking about painting an illustration on my wall, specifically a mountain (like the one you painted). It really gave me some new ideas on how i could layer paint and build up the shape. Your art is so great and honestly, you are my favorite art-KZreadr. Lots of love

amazing!
You are my inspiration! I'm taking art GCSE and I'm scared it's going to be really hard! I want to be just like you and hopefully your videos will help me do this :)
Aggh they're so beautiful!
lol I kept seeing things in these painting. There were 2 big ones. In the first painting I saw the huge skull of a dragon and the shadows were the dragons maw. In the clouds I saw a surfer with a man bun from below. Essentially the angle was as if he had a gopro on the tip of his board looking up at him. I thought that was funny :) great job. I bought my first gouache paints 2 days ago because of you and your Royal Talens vid. Having a fun time playing with them. I think I'm thinning the paint out too much though
Magnifique !
Amazing!!! 😲😃
can you do a tutorial about how to paint landscapes?
Are you using any reference for these??
@OpeOhNo
7 жыл бұрын
Alina hey, I can't really speak on her behalf, but I gurante you that she probably used reference, or she had used reference so much in the past & drawn buildings and landscapes so frequently that she's gotten to the point where she can create one using some basic understandings that's she's collected over the years. if you're asking for your own personal use & want to know if you should be using reference or not - the answer is yes, use reference, even when you get to her level that you don't really need it any more (though even then, it could be argued that people still need to use reference).
wow that last one has so much style and flow and line work its so pretty, Good job :) You just got a new sub

your nails are always amazing im quaking
Wow! You're such an inspiration! Your work is fantastic, makes me want to get back at it. I was wondering how you go about starting...do you paint in negative shapes first? Or does it vary with each piece? It would be nice to see your references...thank you so much for sharing!
beautiful work, love. do u have any tips on painting mist/fog?
you really are a great Artist, dear! keep it up :)
you're amazing
Like when you show what you're doing on your palette, how you're mixing the colors...
You're too good !
Just making my forest painting with gouache but not turn out as expected😭 maybe need hundreds of practice to make painting like yours😖 love your work❤️
Love your art! What paint do you use and how do you decide what to draw/ use as reference? Thanks!
Amazing, as always! I wanted to know, what's about the left over paints? Do you thrash it or reuse it? Plus, how do you overcome the fear of using paint? I never feel like painting because I'm afraid I'll waste it. Keep shredding tho, you're awesome!
@minniesmall
7 жыл бұрын
I just leave it in the pallet til next time as gouache can be reactivated with water. So there's never really an issue with waste but I wouldn't let that put me off anyway. You've got to try not to think like that, otherwise you might not do a drawing for fear of wasting paper if it doesn't turn out right. Nothing's a waste if you'r taking a lesson with you each time.
Your work is absolutely stunning and I would like to know how you got into art and how old you were when you did
These are crazy beautiful but I would love to see the reference photos vs your paintings
Did you use watercolor for these? They look great! Also, love the music!!
