ruwiki The ships sailing the seven seas under the swiss flag have a rectangular one, too. If you are a swiss citizen you can even apply for flying the rectangular flag on your yacht. Check the "Bundesgesetz über die Seeschifffahrt unter der Schweizer Flagge (Seeschifffahrtsgesetz)". But this is not an excuse for you, General Knowledge, as you clearly stated "... the first country on our list, Switzerland" while the rectangular flag was getting drawn. You were clearly relating to the country, not the navy! Outrageous.

Although countries like Austria and Switzerland are landlocked technically, they have free access to the sea via rivers which have been deemed international waterways for the purposes of shipping. The Danube for the former, and the Rhine for the latter. The same situation also applies for Laos, which would otherwise be completely landlocked but for the internationalization of the Mekong river on its border with Vietnam.

Switzerland has access to the Rhine River which is deep enough to allow the transit of small and medium cargo vessels from Basel in Switzerland to Rotterdam in the Netherlands and from there into the open ocean. so the usual disadvantage that stops access to ocean trade routes is mostly negated in the case of Switzerland.

As a person who lives in a country with sea and in a city on the coast... I really don't appreciate the beach that much though i love it and always go there... But it's just a matter of not really feeling the worth of something when it's always accessible and there for you.... People in landlocked countries and even cities within my country Morocco pay lots of cash to enjoy the sea while i can basically walk my way to the beach if i want to!

Honestly I think we need more categories than just developing nation. Most nations in the world are developing nations. The only ones that aren't would be the US and Canada, most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and some countries in East Asia and the Middle East, and mabey Argentina and Chile. And the majority of the developed nations in East Asia and the Middle East are have quite small populations. Developing nations include all of South Asia, Africa, and Central Asia, China, most of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, much of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and most countries in Oceanea. But the majority of the world by far live in developing nations and there is quite a bit of range of wealth amoung them even though they are all in the same category.

0:41: we hide in the mountains (ok not true for some LL Countries) But really from all film evidence i've seen, all giant monsters are comming from the sea (*cough*Ggodzilla *cough*) So we are quite safe. Also you forgot to mention the benefit Switzerland and Austria and some other LL countries might have in the future: if the sea level increases, parts of countries with coasts might get below sealevel. We are quite safe here...even if it would rise by 100m we would still be on the dry but way closer to the sea i guess ;-)
