Landing on the Shortest Runway in Florida - (Cedar Key, Fl) 2018

We attempt to land at the shortest paved public runway in Florida, George T Lewis Airport at Cedar Key, Fl. We mount up on our new Boosted Boards and come to the first place we fine for our $100 Hamburger: Steamers. We learn the pain of weak skateboarding ankles and ghost pepper cheese. We end off the day with a nice short field takeoff.
Please let us know by commenting or emailing us where you want us to go next!
$100 Hamburger is aviation slang for the excuse a pilot gives to fly, which is a trip that typically involves flying a short distance, eating at a restaurant, and flying home.

    One of the reason that I like your videos so much is that you are showing new private pilots the great adventures that you can have by becoming a pilot, places to go and see and enjoy the fruit of your labor, most video are boring they show nothing of the capability of being a pilot, flying is not just taken off and landing who the hell wants to just do that, we want to go places and enjoy flights to places that weve never been with our love ones, flying for breakfast or lunch to different airports with friends or flying to plces to hang out over night thats the ticket for the hard work you put out in becoming a pilot. Keep those video coming.

Looks like you guys are having a great time. Flying is a passion of mine and I also enjoy taking our airplane to new and interesting places. It is fun to see you guys doing that, too, and enjoying yourselves. If you make more videos, I'll be sure to watch them.

    I cannot believe you missed a large part of the experience. The taxi ride to town is a whole video by itself. Love Cedar Key, my first time in, there was an Aztec that had overshot the day before, still in the water at the end of the runway, that is a great visual for confidence. Love the videos, hope you get time to do more.

    I’ve lived in cedar key my entire life. And in that 35 years, I can remember specifically at least 12 airplanes we pulled out of the marsh there or recovered from near shore. I still fly it whenever possible. Of course a 172 doesn’t require quite as much runway. I’d love to meet you guys and do some flying one day. Good videos. Fly safe.

    One of my first cross countries was to cedar key. There was an old lady that had a transceiver in her car that did taxi service. You’d call downwind and then this little country lady voice would say “y’all need transportation?” We said “sure” That led to the slowest 15 mph taxi ride in this woman’s sedan with the headliner hanging down to the the seafood restaurant in town. That 29 minute taxi ride from the airport to that place was still so memorable. I hope she’s still around.

    Piece of cake. I learned on a 2200 ft dirt runway in Ma. in 1958. Privately owned "King Aviation" now East Taunton Airport . It had electrical wires on one end and 50 ft trees on the other. My problem was when I flew into a large runway I had to taxi for 2 miles to get to the FBO. LOL Not always the best,, landing on the numbers. I was wondering what you were talking about, $100 hamburgers. I been to Cedar Key on motorcycles, Great place for sea food. me and my brother (now live in Florida) and knew there was no such thing there as $100 hamburger. I never heard that expression before. We were just flying off to lunch. Also seen that Cedar Key runway. Nice video. I also flew out of FXE for about 30 odd years, 1978 - 2008.

  • @CHESSmaster69SH

    @CHESSmaster69SH

    5 жыл бұрын

    7.ZeroProductions Absolutely not. We already pulled the engines, interior, and a radio out. The guy that now owns the airplane bought it while it was in flying condition. He and the seller had agreed on a price. The seller (hasn’t flown in 10 years) decided to grab another pilot and fly it one more time. The came in on 5 and landed halfway down the runway, then went splat. Lol. They were okay. Originally, the aircraft only needed a new nosewheel caster, new nose, and new props and flaps. The fire department tore the tail tie down off while trying to wench it out. Then they put straps around the wings (and flaps) and crumpled up the flaps. My friend that bought it already has salvaged parts from other aircraft. He wants to restore it. Unfortunately, the salt air has done a number on it. We were down in June and the engines were locked up. Still had fresh oil in them.
