Landing a Submersible Plane on a SUBMERSIBLE AIRCRAFT CARRIER!
Ойындар
Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing a co-op challenge where we try to land a jet on a submersible aircraft carrier while it drives across the ocean! I have to build an aircraft carrier than can navigate the surface of the water, catch and secure a plane, and then dive under water before resurfacing to release the plane again!

About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

OK, now we need a submarine that can jump high out of the water, and a plane that swoops in from behind to catch the sub on top of it and fly away.

i think a good idea would be the reverse of this, a plane picking up a submarine than dropping it back into the sea , try without the use of magnets but instead maybe have the submarine jump out of the water into the plane and the plane closes up, and you could fly straight up amd open the plane and drop the submarine

Catch a boat with a plane
If you do another challenge like this, I'd suggest agreeing on some sort of registration system for lining up. Like a triangular nose slotting into a wedge shaped notch , or a plane with a rounded belly landing on a runway that has a with a groove down the center, etc, so that the lander naturally centers on the platform.
@-user_redacted-

Good idea, essentially make it a keyed connection got max compatibility.
Catching a plane with a jumping sub would be a neat concept to try.
I remember there was one sub carrier irl, a Japanese craft made during WWII. But other than that, most other real world examples never left the drawing board. Wonder what the world would be like if these things took off, so to speak. But judging from how hard these two tried to land properly, I can see why. Edit: I forgot that the Japanese planes only "launched" from the sub, but had to land on water and be picked back up by crane to be loaded back in.
@kakomakothebuilder6584

Irl the landing is harder but you have more control so you can be more presice on where your landing
@user-ud8zy2dv1k
Жыл бұрын
the Japanese one never had to deal with landings. it was made to basically have a sealable hanger on top of the sub, with a piston to add some force to the planes to help with the takeoff. the trick was that it launched exclusively FLOATPLANES with folding wings to save space, the planes got assisted on the takeoff, but landed on the ocean itself and got put back onto the sub via a folding crane, like many other floatplane carriers. a proper submersible carrier would have to be as large as an actual aircraft carrier simply to have enough runway space to recover the planes, or uses exclusively floatplanes, vtols or other planes that don't need a runway. launching only requires the sub to have a built in launcher, the recovery of planes is the troublesome part. However, a runway based submersible carrier wouldn't really be harder to land on than a regular carrier.

Well normally a Aircraft Carrier has more then one plane. Maybe Scrapman could reactivate the old crew, kAN, Kosmo and Moonbo, and they all try to land on that Carrier. Everyone with his own plane! Also the Submersible Plane wasn't really a Sub, wasn't it? It couldn't "fly" under water, only sink
@stephenharris4043
Ай бұрын
I feel like if the plane could continue underwater on its own, then it wouldn't really need the sub at all. So it was likely intentional that it didn't have underwater propulsion
With power of ‘’friendship and magnets’’
6:11 I love how yzuei’s plane just “said I’ll just leave”
That was epic! How about two independent planes that join mid-flight to form one plane (voltron style) that you need to work together to control. Or a watercraft carrier, a boat carried by an aircraft that you drop off and pick up at speed.
@186scott

I had a similar idea but instead 2 different types of vehicles that join together and form a 3rd type of vehicle
Scrapman: "I wanna try again, I want a perfect landing." Electroswing: Intensifies Warning! Warning! Incoming fail montage!
Scrapman, your ship's design's really good. I think that two things that could help would be to have the current bars spaced out from eachother by a few blocks, having them spread out a little bit in a "v" angle to help guide the plane down and have two more rods come up from the back to push the plane forward if it lands too far.
That is a nice challenge maybe ill do it with one of my friends

Hey ScrapMan, i know that usually physics mods on scrapmechanic are glitchy but there is one mod that is just sooooo gooood and it's called the Fant Mod, it adds many things (like aerodynamic to make planes) and the creator of this mod has a KZread channel where he explains all the stuff added. I hope you will have time to look at this mod because it adds all the community wanted (or not).

I've watched you for years(literally years, since scrap mechanic beta, and before trailmakers came out) but just now I've subscribed. This had nothing to do with the video, I just saw your sub count, and wanted to be here before a million. Your content is wholesome, enjoyable, and consistent I may not watch you all the time, but I can always come back here after a while and find stuff to enjoy Good luck with your channel Scrapman
Nice! Looks like your logically next team challenge following this path is: Jump a submarine out of the water onto a hammock hanging under a large flying plane, take it in the air and get it back down in water again successfully. :)
Aircraft carriers are cool, but you know what's even cooler? A zeppelin style aircraft carrier that can retract its parasite aircraft into the zeppelin!
easily one of the coolest things youve ever made that has no real in-game use LOL fantastic!
I love that launch then immediate dive. Like a bomber insertion op. Get in under the water, pop up to launch the plane then dive right back down again
15:38 Scrapman - "This ain't no normal aircraft carrier!" The aircraft carrier: *decides to combust*
Multiplayer idea!!!! A pirate attack on cargo ship idea where you have speedboats with smart cannons which need to destroy six explosive targets on the cargo ship to win and the cargo ship which needs to destroy the pirates till they have used all their 3 repairs each or just sail around the map or just any other route.
@Justdowhateverboi
Жыл бұрын
Or instead of destroying the target the pirates could board the ship and take in over by getting all of the pirates to the bridge
The plane catching the sub idea that others had is a great one, so you should do that next, BUT to take things a step further, you could try having a plane that drops a boat that releases a sub, and then do everything in reverse, have the boat pick the sub back up, and the plane pick the boat back up. As an additional challenge, land the plane while it's carrying the boat and sub. Maybe even have the sub hold something, like a brick, or an object, that it has to carry with it to take somewhere. Or just have that be a challenge, transfer an object between a plane and a sub, without either leaving the air/water for long.
I’m loving these carrier videos
I just got trailmakers today and I played like 20 mins and it's awesome.
Hello scrapman I absolutely love your vids and you music and when I subscribed I was surprised you did even have 1mill. The quality and entertainment you put it n your videos is miraculous loves of people love and I wish a few more did but keep you amazing stuff up
you could put a canal in the middle of the runway to mabe help with alignment, and small wheels on the plane, so if it comes in short it could still taxy a bit? sorry for spelling, english isn'tmy first language
Alright, now that you've built a submersible plane, that's one step closer to: *_Kingfisher vs Swordfish._* Basically, a Plane that can dive vs a Sub that can pierce the Plane (maybe give it some wings so it can glide like a flying fish). It's going to be a predator vs predator, as either side tries to kill the other in their own element. Maybe add ranged weapons if getting a skewering kill is unreliable/improbable. Kingfisher vs Swordfish, folks!
The classic "make the background music sound underwater-y, while underwater" edit. Props to the editor!
You have Mastered the Skies and the seas now you shall master the land

Little bit of sneaky SEO for the win.
Here is a nearly impossible challenge. Land a plane using the piston platforms as a landing strip near the center of the map. Perfect timing, speed, and control. Good luck.
You could make a glider or plane landing on a driving runway. Or you could try a helicopter landing on on a helipad (swimming, flying or driving).
This would be an amazing radar avoiding war tactic
The way those landing prongs flex when the plane bumps into them makes me wonder if Trailmakers could manage to emulate the "hook and rope" landing gear that's used on real aircraft carriers (literally a hook on the underside of an aircraft that catches onto an extremely elastic cable that rapidly slows the aircraft to a stop on the tiny runway) Might be possible with a few low-strength steering hinges and some springs, especially now that blocks are more durable thanks to the Airborne update
I think a third pole in the center further toward the bow could be helpful for lining up for touchdown. Two points is good enough, as you demonstrated, but having a center point to aim for could make the final approach a little easier. Just keeping the nose on a single point takes less focus than balancing the nose between two points, at least for me.
This is cool
13:13 This is why i consider TM being SUPERIOR building game in comparason to Scrap mechanics. Look at this rapid de-assembly...
Great job! Now just do it in the windiest place in the high seas
wow that was really cool
I love aircraft carrier related co-of challenges of you ♥️ 😊
Scrap man, you are my favorite youtuber and you have inpired me to be more creative. im kind of sad that i didnt get to see the things get built but i still love these vids
How does bro make such complicated machines, he makes it look so easy!
Instead of making two spikes, u can have an inverted 'V' shape so the place can adjust itself ... But nice try, keep it on
Keep the series up
Land a tiny plane inside a larger plane. Make sure it stays in by doing some rolls, and then detach the front of the large plane so only the cargo bay is left (still going in a somewhat straight direction) for the tiny plane to taxi forwards and take off.
I love that the editor actually counted how many frames the game froze for. It's tiny details like that which I love!
You guys should do a sub aircraft carrier and a sub aircraft battle with some more of the guys. That would be epic!
This was great I loved yzuis pane jet thing. Btw Scrapman next time you do a build video I'd really like to see you try and recreate the joby s4 eVTOL.
2 slow planes on toggle at same speed close to each other, you jump out and walk on the planes to switch planes. :) (might need some auto stabilization)
Speaking of submersibles...
you should try to do the net grab like aircraft carrier's have, so a plane could land on top speeds and be slowed down by the net. (not sure if that's possible for trailmakers, but there could be some ways to get around it!!!)
People who miss the old build time-lapse 👇👇👇👇👇
cool build
radical!
look up the i-400 submarine on google, they tried this irl, but very different. instead of a flight deck, they used a crane and a catapult to take and launch planes. there was an internal hangar that could hold 3 seaplanes with attachable pontoons and folding wings, that landed next to the carrier to be craned up, or launched normally without pontoons for more range, but couldn’t land back on the sub japan would’ve (presumably) won the war of they got them up and running
Without good cell signal I thought this was a storm works video lol still gonna watch

Nice
11:05 - Yzuei: Turbulence is a word that secretly means skill issue We can say yzuei is the turbulence god then 😂
Turbulence is change in atmospheric pressure, jet streams and air around mountains and it's basically like when you are flying in a plane and it starts bouncing around some
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the time and effort the editor puts into these videos? They are super skilled at what they do, and I want them to know that! I also want ScrapMan to know that he is super skilled at what he does, too! Both ScrapMan and his fabled editor are really talented and deserve props for their skill and dedication to this channel! A pretty cool co-op idea that you two could try out is to try doing a bomber vs. anti-aircraft vehicle challenge! In this challenge the bomber could have an infinite amount repairs while the anti-aircraft vehicle could only have a few or no repairs. I think that'd be pretty cool to see, if I don't say so myself. Just a little fun fact for ya': approximately 8,760 hours is one full year's worth of time! Pretty neat if you ask me! How many hours of gameplay do you have on a single game? Huh?
