DISCLAIMER: THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE FLIGHT INSTRUCTION. SERIOUSLY. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN TO FLY, DON'T WATCH KZread; GO SEE A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR. CERTAIN SAFETY STEPS, LIKE THE PREFLIGHT INSPECTION, WERE COMPLETED BUT OMITTED FROM THE FINAL VIDEO BECAUSE WALKING AROUND A PLANE DOES NOT MAKE GOOD VIDEO CONTENT.
Now that that is out of the way, welcome to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International airport! Recently Jennifer returned from Haiti and instead of her making the three-hour bus ride back home, we decided to pick her up in the Cessna 210. Follow along as we navigate the busy Class Bravo airspace and land a small airplane at the world's busiest airport.

Agreed!!
Nice! Great to see that your daughter is checking her phone completely relaxed and unimpressed when you have to focus on the busy traffic.
Cool video! Really enjoyed it and am impressed at all the communication involved in getting from point A to Point B!
is this aircaraft equipment autopilot?
Thanks for sharing! This was a great look into how much work goes into landing at ATL. Liked and subscribed!

Thanks! I am definitely fortunate to be able to do the things I do. Just trying to get the most out of life, as cliche as that sounds.
This is great!
Glad you covered the landing cost. That's always a big question for going into the bigger airports for me.

I actually called the FBO beforehand so I knew what to expect going in. Very reasonable all things considered. I think some of the Class Bravo airports in the northeast can get outrageous.

I think unless the Class B airport has a GA presence there’s going to be pretty steep landing fees. I’m out in DIA’s airspace and even getting an approach in there is a bit of a planning challenge. Not that there is anything a GA airplane could really do there beyond landing... still on the bucket list. :)

I don’t understand your comment. I can assure it has a carry-thru spar that is in perfect condition. Passed the AD with flying colors.
Land in ATL is in my Bucket list, thanks for the video.

Nice video - I keep my 210L at GKT not too far from MMI

Nice! I'm actually up at GKT all the time to visit family. Nice airport.
I'm "next door" in Virginia, so I get the humidity thing (14 summers here and still I can't get used to it). I've only piloted once, a 30 minute "discovery" flight out of, around and back into ROA) but it was a blast and this just reminded me of how much I enjoyed that experience. I feel like the ATC workload would be overwhelming, but that comes with the training I'd expect.

Communicating with ATC is definitely a skill that builds over time. Flying into a busy class B airspace isn't something you would do as a first time pilot!

@@AlanBrockImages it was interesting when we did the same flight for my wife, listening in on the (modest levels of) ATC chatter and having the bandwidth to follow what was going on. At least when I wasn't taking photos!
2CH turn left heading 095.... 2CH turn left heading 090.... 2CH turn left heading 070.... 2CH turn right heading 180.... LOL
Cute little girls are bound to get 1000's of views! Great video!

very cool stuff Mr. Brock. Just curious, when is a good time to visit Tennessee minus the heat and humidity?

October and November are really nice! April is nice too, but the pollen can be REALLY bad if you have allergies.
Kool flight. How long you been flying for?

Thanks! I've had my license for around 10 years (or maybe 11...can't remember back that far!) and got my instrument rating shortly afterward.
Great video. I’m wondering why the video seems constantly get squeezed vertically during the flight?

The wingtip and cockpit cameras aren't stabilized and they suffered from some pretty bad rolling shutter which created a jello effect. That's probably what you're seeing.
Dude, that was hella cool! As someone who doesn't have the visual acuity to fly, this was really fun to watch! When are you going to mount your Intrepid 4x5 to your aircraft? :)

The drag that camera would create would be difficult to overcome!
Great Video. Im located at GKT with an A36. My wife also recently returned from Haiti on a Mission trip. If ever in GKT give me a shout.

2 thumbs up Alan. Not being a pilot, what is it you keep doing on the dashboard?

One of two things usually. Whenever air traffic control directs me to a new heading, I am moving a heading bug around a compass card. This tells the autopilot to fly that specific heading. The other is dialing in a specific radio frequency whenever they ask me to switch frequencies.
Hey, i remember you coming by that day.

Alan My manager pointed out that me and my crew have been in many videos online. Guys coming in and recording just like you. And I had to check it out. And I remembered you coming in. Thank you for coming by. You’re always welcome to come. We rarely see small aircraft.
ugh!...I hate Atlanta...I hate driving through that place to get to the mountains of the Carolinas...nothing but horrible traffic jams!
@AlanBrockImages
5 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I hate driving thought there as well. It was so nice to look down on the traffic and realize I didn't have to put up with it! :)
So if you are making 160 and he is asking for 160 then there's no need to say anything until he asks you for best forward speed later on in the profile, which won't be for that long. I guess the point is that, as you said, the frequency is crowded at the busiest airport. Yeah I used to fly a Cherokee into LAX and they are not nearly as busy as ATL. But $50 is a bargain at Signature.
Columbus would be so chill compared to Atlanta. But i wouldn't recommend visiting us unless you wanted to got FDR or something.

Who knows...I'm always up for visiting new airports!
Thanks for putting this together! I've always been a bit of an aviation buff but never got deeper into it than appreciation from a distance. It's always impressive to see "normal" people flying, let alone at a crazy major airport. Here in CA, I follow another outdoorsy KZreadr who is also a pilot, very intelligent guy with a channel you might enjoy: kzread.info
