OMG I'm about to change the oil on my wife's new LR4 and was shocked to see this other video of a guy saying that the LR4 does not have a drain plug and needs a pump. I feel doubt for believing it for a minute. I'm glad I saw decided to watch your video. Thank you 👍

They all definitely have a Drain plug, all engines do! (OK, not full EV's) But the main issue is with the Diesel. This video is regarding the Petrol V6 which as you can see is simple to drain with the plug, but gets confused outside of the USA with the V6 TDV and SDV engines. The diesel drain plug faces a crossmember and if you drop the oil by removing the plug before pumping out the main amount of oil it will dump 5.9 ltrs of oil everywhere, hitting the cross member and covering you and the floor with oil that no pan can catch. Hence, don't use the sump plug to drain a Diesel Disco LR3 / 4. I'm based in Australia: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoxnqbyOqKe9eto.htmlsi=H5VEBKzxIUZcAiZF

Great video mate! There are lots of comments on here so just wanted to point out this is the the 3.0 V6 PETROL! Not to be confused with the 3.0 V6 DIESEL which should use a pump to extract the oil before removing the sump plug. Otherwise you and everything else will get covered in oil lol.

Hey so inside my oil filter cap, there was a spring and a cap and grommet that looks like it seated within the paper filter. Upon further inspection it looks like the retainer for this spring on the inner base of the oil filter cap was broken. I got a new cap but it doesn’t have the retainer for the spring assembly. Is it needed? I can’t find a cap that has the same internal housing for that tiny spring assembly. 2010 LR4 5.0

I have seen a lot of people recommend going to 5W40 oil for Discoveries (LR3/4) with over 100,000km on the clock - this refers to the SDV6 Diesel engine, not the petrol enginse that they seem to like in the US.

For the love of god dont use 5w-20 if youre doing this yourself. I assume they are using it because it is "factory spec," and they cant use anything outside of that. These engines are very dependent on GOOD oil and regular oil changes (5k miles). The thicker oil of 5w-30 or even 40 helps the life of these engines not to mention your wallet.
