We have the p400e version but no SIM card so can’t wait for your next video about this, I was going to buy a data SIM but no sure if we need a specific type

Hi Simon thanks for a great video! I have just bought a secondhand evoque and after watching your video paid the 36 pounds to active...... after a few problems and error messages with the software not finding the vin no it connected. The only problem is that is doesn't seem to have the same functionality as yours, no flashing lights, unlocking or locking remotely?? Does it depend on the model do you know? I get to see the security status plus the map! Many thanks for any help!

Hi. Very helpful I bought 4 months ago and cost me £240 because my insurance company requirements without tracker they don’t cover stolen Range Rover.

@@toasterbath1395 They wont insure Range Rovers without a tracker fitted/active......ive just bought one and had the same insurance problem....no tracker ... no cover.

I have this on my Jag. I start it about 5 mins walk from my car. I can get in, engines already started an it's nice and warm. Isn't technology marvellous.

Cheers great video. I currently have the JLR tracker service until September after which not sure what to do (continue or aftermarket). What would you recommend? Any advice on which ones to go for, if aftermarket?

@powerfulukltd do the last few frames on your video show your vehicle track on Google going off road? Perhaps the premium version of the tracker shows your road route rather than just where you stop along your journey. Then the additional subscription would probably cover access to the road data and updates? Wonder how the road data works with vehicle navigation system vs. In Control?

If you have a discovery 5 HSE or above then you can control all the folding seats etc from it, amongst other things as well. I’ve used the car locator on it to find my wife in the middle of the new forest with a lost dog and no phone signal!

Same here mate. 2015 Supercharged and Land Rover customer service just said same. I have the notification when locked and unlocked and tracker. Thats just about it. No Remote on the the app which is absolutely disgusting. A vehicle of that range should have it all.

Do you need the Online Pack to use this. I have paid for the InControl Pack. Land Rover are now asking for £120 for the Online Pack which expires next month.

This is not controlled by the sim card slot - this is controlled via the TCU ( Telematics Control Unit ) that has its own inbuilt sim. There is a good chance if you are in the UK this could be activated

@@L663 I’m from Belgium. But I’ve noticed my vehicle doesn’t have the 2 buttons on the console above where you can open/close the panoramic roof / screen. I think this option was not selected by the previous owner when he bought the car.

I'm confused!! So, I have a 2017 Evoque HSE Dynamic Coupe (in carpathian grey - it's gorgeous!!). I only bought it at the weekend and I've been playing (and learning) with all my new gadgets. OK, so. I've been playing around with data connections (tethering it off my iPhone and connecting to my home WiFi etc.) to see if it was worth me paying out for a data SIM. I love the journeys feature in the App. However, I noticed that even when I don't tether, I still get my journey history. At first I thought it was storing the data locally and then connecting to my home WiFi when I parked up. So, I went for a drive and while I was out, I parked up, got out of the car, stepped back and checked the App. Guess what? It was updated with the current journey!! How the hell did it do that?!?! No SIM in the slot, not tethering to my phone, WTF!?! So, my question is, what's the point in anyone paying for the Tracking Subscription when they can just check the journey history if the car gets nicked? Am I missing something?

Good question ! So you car has a TCU - Telematics contol unit hidden in the car - this has an inbuilt E-Sim that land rover control and this is used for the tracking and also the in control app data transfer. If your subscription expires you will no longer be able to see your journeys ! let me know if you have more questions.

@@L663 - The only subscription I have is the ‘InControl Pro Services’ that expire in March 2027. But, I didn’t pay for that. I really don’t know why anyone needs to pay for the Tracker. The only negative I can find is that it seems to only remember the lock & alarm status at the point when you stop the engine. So mine always states ‘Locked not Alarmed’ no matter how times I refresh that page on the App. And it states ‘Vehicle last contacted XX/XX/XXXX XX:XX, which is the date/time I stopped the engine. So, I’m guessing that once I press that Start/Stop Button, it uploads the data and communications stop there. Maybe I’d be able the access data ‘after the fact’ if I installed a SIM. Anyway, I think that could be the subject of an interesting video. Remove your SIM and see what features you still have. Keep up the good work!!

@@PhannyObsession The TCU does have its own internal battery that can be replaced... it sounds like your TCU battery needs replacing. ( at a guess ) I cant give too much info as this is what the car thieves need to do. The battery for the tCU is only £10 - £36 depending on chassis number... It would be a great video but i would need to be careful what info i gave away

@@L663 - Fair enough. That makes sense. So, you’re saying that I should definitely have access to that info even though I don’t have any subscriptions? I might stick a SIM in there just to see. Would I not get any messages if the TCU Battery was low? And if it is low, do you think it is something that would be covered by the JLR Warranty? I bought the car from an official JLR Dealership. So, I got another 12 months

@@L663 - Thanks. One more question for you. I noticed the other day that when I start up the Evoque from cold, exhaust only comes out of one pipe. Then, as it heats up, it comes out of both. Is this normal? Is there some kind of Valve that opens up as it get warm?

powerfulukltd yeah I set the account up on a desk top while at the dealership. But the app on my phone states I don’t have a vehicle on this account. But when I go in to add a vehicle. It said I already have one. 🤦🏾‍♂️.

…and today it works perfectly fine again. 🎉

I fell at the first hurdle with the app requiring a password with minimum of 12 characters with no more than 2 characters repeating. You get ne e-mail confirming your registration details or are you required to add the password twice so as to avoid typos. So I registered only to find it wouldn't accept the password and eventually locked me out. I find it bizarre that every ATM in the world only requires a 4 digit number to access my money but Land Rover needs this level of security to access a poxy app!

@@L663 same as mine but Land Rover just told me mine does not have the premium features. So there is no Remote Tab/Icon on my app. I just have the basic function and I have been told cant upgrade it from the basic features. I am absolutely angry
