    Great build. Elephant in the room. When Travelling abroad you will invariably and eventually have to purchase a carnet de passages, the cost of which is relative to the value of the vehicle, and with this vehicle it’s going to be eye watering!

    Great conversion, nice layout, plenty of storage, I've just noticed one flaw, the Icarus pop top can be opened from the outside, if I was designing this vehicle for overland travel that would be the first problem I'd tend to, otherwise a great build 🙂👍🚙

    @@wright-adventure It's not about "getting used to it", but about the safety. If anyone can open the roof from the outside, then getting in is just a matter of cutting the fabric. It can be done discreetly even in a crowded parking lot.

  • @wright-adventure

    @wright-adventure

    Жыл бұрын

    @@psnowakyt it does have latches which accommodate padlocks which I use when away from vehicle, it would be easier to get in through a side door with land rover doors, the getting used to it was more referring to opening and closing externally especially when weather is bad, unfortunately the internal design at the moment doesn’t allow for it to be closed and locked from the inside.

    Hi, thanks for watching and getting in touch. The rear shelf was made in house then powder coated. Dead simple to make in all honesty only extra thing to get is the cable straps which I would order on line to the specific length required which you can find here: www.s3i.co.uk/wire-rope-sling-soft-eye.php

    Errol did you remove the Icarus airline rail to fit that table? I want that table but I’m not sure it will clear that slot rail

  • @wright-adventure

    @wright-adventure

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Robert, the roof rack has the ‘tall’ legs and table comes with the brackets for it to attach to the underside of the rack and it clears the airline rails, if you only have the short legs it won’t work, you can just buy the tail legs separately if you need to.

    Questions - is the gas bottle compartment ventilated to outside or inside? Where is the gas detector located?

  • @wright-adventure

    Ventilated to the outside, there a hole in the floor with a grill directly below the gas bottle, there’s room enough for two bottle as far as I remember? Gas detector is a portable one so can be put anywhere. Hope that helps.

    What map did you use when traveling in Mongolia this summer?

  • @wright-adventure

    @wright-adventure

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi, initially I planned my route on Gaia maps, the basic map is free but you can subscribe to it for about £10 which gives you many more different style of maps and I really like it, but I did buy the Garmin mini satellite tracker which also has a mapping app. this map is okay, not overly detailed but for Mongolia that was not so much a problem as I just need direction, but the best bit is you can easily import your planned routes from Gaia maps and they work perfectly. you can also download the maps so they work off line which is exactly what I did as well, so I ended up having lots of bases covered.
