Exploration fuels the soul and enriches the mind.
Great build. Elephant in the room. When Travelling abroad you will invariably and eventually have to purchase a carnet de passages, the cost of which is relative to the value of the vehicle, and with this vehicle it’s going to be eye watering!
Fantastic! Really well thought out
Thanks Errol - I am revisiting the camper/overland thing with my restomod. Good food for thought. Cheers
the hidden safe isnt that hidden anymore 😂
Fantastic set up well done Gibby in OZ
Fantastic Rig.
What a great conversion! If you ever feel the need to just do one more Defender.....
Good job man...
Killer build A+
Awesome build Errol! Subbed and i've bought my ticket for euromillions... will be in touch when I win 😂
Hi Erroll this is where I no you from, years ago and must say they are very well built, I thought you had fallen out of love with defenders and building them though, nice build atb.

Hi, still love Defenders but not building them at the moment, taking a break and too many other projects in life to have a go at. Thanks for watching.

Fair comment. 👍
Great conversion, nice layout, plenty of storage, I've just noticed one flaw, the Icarus pop top can be opened from the outside, if I was designing this vehicle for overland travel that would be the first problem I'd tend to, otherwise a great build 🙂👍🚙

Hi, Mark, that is the one issue that comes up the most. I’ve owned two Defenders now with the pop top and I’ve got used to it.thanks for watching.

@@wright-adventure It's not about "getting used to it", but about the safety. If anyone can open the roof from the outside, then getting in is just a matter of cutting the fabric. It can be done discreetly even in a crowded parking lot.
@wright-adventure
Жыл бұрын
@@psnowakyt it does have latches which accommodate padlocks which I use when away from vehicle, it would be easier to get in through a side door with land rover doors, the getting used to it was more referring to opening and closing externally especially when weather is bad, unfortunately the internal design at the moment doesn’t allow for it to be closed and locked from the inside.
I'd love a pop top but can't justify the price!
Hello Errol…thanks for this enlightening review. I was particularly interested in the rear door table (7m25s) and where you go it from. Does it exist as well for a TD5, like in my case. Appreciate your guidance! Greetings from France.

Hi, thanks for watching and getting in touch. The rear shelf was made in house then powder coated. Dead simple to make in all honesty only extra thing to get is the cable straps which I would order on line to the specific length required which you can find here: www.s3i.co.uk/wire-rope-sling-soft-eye.php
Well done.💪🛠⚙👍 Will you be doing a build out of an Ineos Grenadier? I heard they have started delivering to Europe, parts of Africa, and the UK. Your Thoughts on the vehicle?

Haven't had a chancer to have a good look all over it yet, the cost is a bit out of my budget but if a customer comes along? who knows.
Element fire extinquisher are awesome.....2nd row window vents? Any more details, Thank you

Hi, unfortunately I don’t have any details, although I build a fair amount of this vehicle the owner also did a fair bit. Now sold unfortunately.
Lovely truck Erroll😊What sort of money would an interior like that cost to install on a standard truck?? Thanks for sharing 👍🌍😊

Errol, I’m just wondering is that a water tank under the treeslider side step?
@wright-adventure

Yes it is 56 litre water and a identical one on the other side for fuel. Get them from safari equipe my earlier defender pop top video also has it on.
Errol mate, can you give us the details of the steering wheel and it's quick release ? Cheers Roysters 😎

Errol did you remove the Icarus airline rail to fit that table? I want that table but I’m not sure it will clear that slot rail
@wright-adventure
Жыл бұрын
Hello Robert, the roof rack has the ‘tall’ legs and table comes with the brackets for it to attach to the underside of the rack and it clears the airline rails, if you only have the short legs it won’t work, you can just buy the tail legs separately if you need to.
@Errol mate where do I get a pair of those pants you wearing look proper for camping

Hi what a set up!! I am in need of an external side locker like this, can you share who fabricated the side locker with the removable door to make a table??
@wright-adventure
7 ай бұрын
Hi, I did, but I’m no longer making them. I’ve stopped doing conversions for the moment but they are not difficult to do, just need to approach a local fabricator, but they do not come cheap, about 5-600 now.

@wright-adventure can you remember the sizing you used, i.e., width depth height, your proportions just seem bang on that's all. I'll be hunting down a fabricator, Deffo need some of your hinges too, they are also bang on the money

Hi Errol and Neil, is there any progress with a source for this box? I m strongly interested in a kind of too, but want it to be accessible both sides, from the in and outside. If no source is still available, Errol could you kindly provide me with dims and details, so I can get someone here in Germany building it. Happy Easter from good old Germany, cheers Joe
Hi there.. Can I ask you to double check the source of the Roof Box? You listed metallicsuk as the source, but they dont have this. Is it an alu cab product? thanks

Hi, it is made by Metallic uk they will do bespoke for you which is what this roof box is, I used to send them a diagram with meaurements and they can also powder coat it for you and well, ( I haven't had one made for a while so worth giving them a ring for a chat to see what they can do for you, I've used them for years and they've done about 15 box for me with no problems.
Questions - is the gas bottle compartment ventilated to outside or inside? Where is the gas detector located?
@wright-adventure
Жыл бұрын
Ventilated to the outside, there a hole in the floor with a grill directly below the gas bottle, there’s room enough for two bottle as far as I remember? Gas detector is a portable one so can be put anywhere. Hope that helps.
Can I buy this?!?! How much?
What map did you use when traveling in Mongolia this summer?
@wright-adventure
Жыл бұрын
Hi, initially I planned my route on Gaia maps, the basic map is free but you can subscribe to it for about £10 which gives you many more different style of maps and I really like it, but I did buy the Garmin mini satellite tracker which also has a mapping app. this map is okay, not overly detailed but for Mongolia that was not so much a problem as I just need direction, but the best bit is you can easily import your planned routes from Gaia maps and they work perfectly. you can also download the maps so they work off line which is exactly what I did as well, so I ended up having lots of bases covered.
What size is your removable Momo steering wheel? Is that the 350mm (14 inch) or 15 inch? Thanks

Can't find a link to the rear-door shelf. Any help?

Good point, I do use a foldable thing Called a popaloo which is great for small campers, I recommend them to my customers but often a small shovel becomes the preferred option, much more boys scout.
