@@paulbaker7015 soz i am from newcastle upon tyne i always forget to read comments been sorting wires out today pulling harness to bits to figure out what wires i need to go to gearbox as i unplugged all the stuff on the gear selector plastic and it wouldnt start without it

@@graham-martin5847 ah ye. That’s all I did was follow the dealer bmw wiring diagram and pretty much kept 90 percent of the wiring. Didn’t need half of it to be honest but I just labeled and wrapped it if I ever needed it. The harnesses you can buy these days are so much more simple pretty much plug and play. Let us know how you get on hope you get it running 👍👍

In the automatic transmission zf6hp of the bmw e60, which engine would fit in it without adaptations or with few? Ea113, ea888, N13, Hyundai Lambda, Hyundai Theta?

Brilliant build I'm hoping to do something similar with a Patrol. Where did you get the stand alone ECU for it? And will your Speedo and rev counter work with it?

Yeah nice - will be good in a patrol mate - had my ecu from wiseman engineering in the uk - I have the 300tdi so no rev counter but yeah Speedo will be okay and can get a signal for rev counter from ecu 👍👍

Awesome Mate!!! wondering about the electrical bit of the transmission must be a ton of an electrical mission to mate the automatic gearbox to a standalone Ecu ?

It’s basically just wired stock standard off the bmw wiring diagrams - haven’t got to the point of test drive yet so have no idea how it’s going to go yet

How thik is the adaptor? How long makes it the gearbox with transfercase? Im also doing a m57 conversion on my rrc but i want to use the 5speed auto box

Roughly around 10-15cms I think mate just at a guess

Are you able to make something like this for BMW x3 gearbox and p38 transfer box?

@@paulbaker7015 I now it fitted and tried to start, cranks but not starting. The wiring I did myself using (many hours) the BMW wiring diagrams. The one thing that worries me is that I do not get any comms on the diagnostic unit to the ECU or gearbox ECU. The info on the OBDII port connection directly to the ECU was a bit sketchy, as all my wiring diagrams seemed to show it goes to the gateway module first - how did you wire yours? If I did it correctly, maybe my ECU not working.... Does the unit use only the K-line, or is the CAN high and low used? It does not seem that the CAN bus is connected through to the OBDII port on this car. Do you perhaps have more info on how you did your wiring for me to use to check against mine? I took the fuel pump from my donor car (2004 E60 530D) and built in straight into the Disco's tank, giving it power from the original fuel pump relay - not sure if more intelligent communication is required to go to the ecu than that? I also did not connect the brake switch wire yet. Could it block start if foot not on brake? hello how much is the LT230 moved back from its original position with this kit? the gearbox you're using it's a X version, right?

Hi. Was that 6 speed beemer trans from a rwd or 4x4? I've got a zf5 lying around and I've been trying to figure out how to attach a transfer case to it. Where did you get the adapter plates?

Hey Faitter - yeah the 6 speed Zf6hp had the adapter from synchro gearboxes they do a awesome adapter kit

It was the 4x4 sorry - Zf6hp26x (x) being the 4wd version

Yes mate - I used a electric actuator for my CDL and the cable for the hi low - have it in a vid somewhere on my channel 👍

90° = double as wide.

How much would that cost me to do the same adapter and gear coupling for Nv225 to 6hp26 from L322 TD6, interested in changing my M57 and 5L40E to 6hp26 and M57N, my intention is to keep the car as automatic.

Paul, I’m checking out of desperation. As in, I desperately need lower gears in my Land Rover LR3 (USA) Disco 3 in EU. A swap from the Magna Steyr DD295 to an LT230 would shorten gears by .50. Not a world of difference but the LT230 can accommodate an underdrive. The problem is there are several sensors on the DD295 that are tied into Traction Control and Electronic Air Suspension. Do you know of anyone who may be able to help me work around the electronics?

Sounds like a project mate, but probably not impossible. Would need to find a decent local auto sparky mate to have a look through the disco3 diagrams to see exactly what it’s reading. Why were you needing lower gears? Can’t you just change diff ratios because that would be so much easier, or even try find a good engineering mob to make a different gear set for your 295.

⁠@@paulbaker7015yes, a project it is, and thus far coming up empty handed. Why- I fit 35” tires 7 years ago and the stock 3.73 gears are absolutely neutered with the larger tires. The prevalent terrain in my part of the world is rock. Anything over knee high, especially on an incline the engine just bogs down. I have also not had the torque to turn the wheels in deep sticky mud before. Gears would be the most simple answer; however, I haven’t been able to find a gear manufacturer to show any interest - even understanding that there would be tooling costs, etc. I believe if I can get someone to agree, I can find enough people interested in social media to make it work. The search continues. Currently, I am sourcing a used diff to disassemble to get the measurements off the R&P. The hope is that there is something close enough that can be machined to fit. I do not believe the 295 internals would be able to be modded as it runs on clutches. Many have gone down this rabbit hole, only to give up. I happen to love the vehicle, and want what I want :)
