All Imperial transports use TARDIS technology for their troop compartments. Its how they fit 10 marines inside a Rhino

I will always choose the Proteus over the Modern, looks wise. I just love it. But also, I was around when that kit was first plastic and you got two in a box.

The size of the carrier opening doesn't bother me. The coolness of the model outweighs any such concerns. The best part of these videos for me comparing the other models. And the description of the subject tank, and the options. Excellent. I never cared for the original Rogue Trader Land Raider, but these ne Horus Heresy models are brilliant. I've gotten a few. 👍

All of the tanks are severely undersized. I'm currently building a Rhino and it's laughably small! It should be about twice the size. But if they made them a realistic scale, collectors would run out of space and money very quickly.

Yeah not sure if you’re new to the hobby but they have never been in scale for 30 years and I doubt they ever will be. For the reasons you mention but also the size of the sprues and the number of pieces would increase thus resulting in higher price which currently people outside of UK find crazy. Secondly they have a game system attached so making them bigger would result in less space on the board too.

@@Sup3rSaiy3n I was introduced to 40K with RTB01, which is why the new plastic Horus Heresy interests me. I have a lot of nostalgia for Beakies! The first time I saw a Rhino in hand, I was surprised by how small it was, but that's even more apparent next to today's "true scale" marines!

One thing to keep in mind, is in general, almost all the WH40k vehicles are not fully to the same scale as the figures such as troops and whatnot. If you do any sort of actual math on fitting space marines in a troop carrier or through doors, the vehicles are just between 20-40% too small. To make them fully to scale would make the models harder to manage and more expensive. Remember, they're a model company first, then game company. Though you might expect a model company to keep more strictly to scale? But in general, they want to sell models. That's why Titans aren't as big in the model form as they are in lore. They couldn't sell a 10' tall resin Warlord Titan to keep it vaguely in scale. That's also why they avoid mention scale for a lot of vehicles, too. Or if you do, they're sort of abstract and often contradictory. Like a Guard foot soldier saying 'It must've been a hundred meters tall!'. So yeah, don't get too hung up on scale. It's just not right, and it's intentional.

  • @MichaelAlthauser

It's a tabletop wargame, scale is all over the place. Vehicles being slightly smaller scale doesn't bother me. Mk4 marines being a bit shorter than Mk6 - who cares.
