I literally did 0400 land nav til 0800 the next morning after watching this video, found 3/5 points w/out getting lost. Satisfactory.

It is so much easy to use the 04.00 & 08.00. That is what we normally tell time in my country.

I'm doing pace counts in dreams. Made a sweet paracord counter.🎉only problem; wife's comes along, talks to much😮,lose count alot, made a 10 pace counter so I can just go back half😂😂😂start over, not perfect but better that listening to it😂🍻
I teach land nav in my unit and you did an excellent job!!! Didn't over complicate which the Army has a tendency to do. Again, great job 🇺🇸👍

Been out of the Army over 5 years now, and was frustrated that I couldn't remember how to do land nav by memory. Excellent video, SSG. It all came back to me!

Been out of the army since 2013 and this brought it all back. Direct and effective language. This should be the way land nav is taught.

I basic you probably just plotted some six and eight digit grid coordinates, did some terrain feature recognition and called it a day.. It all makes a lot more sense when you actually get on a land nav course and are able to put it into practice.

An excellent high level overview of an oddly difficult task to explain and he did it in less than 10 mikes, that's pretty outstanding as far as I'm concerned.

@@theadventurest4345 no I’m saying that in regards to the audience. I could’ve worded that better. MGRS is fundamentally similar to USNGS format and therefor this is valuable to civilians as well.

I have been out of the Army for thirty years and it is absolutely unchanged, brilliant!! The memories came flooding back. Time to dig out my Cammenga lensatic and go practice! Great instruction, thank you.

I couldn't find the ground if I was standing on it, but your instruction left me with a lot more confidence I might actually be able to find my way with a compass! Thumbs up!
This is a great survival skill. Honestly wish they taught this is school. Anyone could use this, especially if they like to travel.

EbonyYoungin I'm in BLC right now too and this helped soooo much. This video explains it way better than the SGL's did.
Took a land nav course as a civilian and forgot a couple of things from it. This covered everything clearly and helped refresh my memory.

1 round, HE, impact fuse, fire for effect! Great video! Folks need to be learning these simple principles and developing these skills. They are going to need them...soon.
Of all the "Land Nav" videos I watched, this is the most direct and clear instructions ever. Havent done any since I left Sill 20yrs ago, nice refresher for me as my 10yr old is interested in this.

Maaaannnnn, it’s been YEARS since I did a land nav course. It’s so good to get a remediation like this now that I’m going to hike the Appalachian Trail. Buying my topo maps now.
Very helpful video. I ship out to basic in a few weeks and I'm trying to review the basics to be as prepared as possible. Thank you for the clear demonstration.

Thank you for this. Used to be pretty good with this, but haven't done it in probably 13 years. Excellent refresher.
Looks like East Range at Schofield Barracks. That place brings back memories. It is a tough Land Navigation Course from doing it when I was back there. Panama's Jungle Operations Training Center was much worse trying to navigate through triple canopy jungle. Hey East Range was just as tough but more enjoyable than running into snakes, African Killer bees, and the notorious Black Palm trees in Panama.

@@STOKERMATIC= I remember back in the mid 90s a young private from an infantry battalion doing land nav in East Range doing preparation for EIB went missing. The entire battalion and the division went looking for this kid. After about a month some local hikers found him down stream to where the "Tunnels" would be at. Yes East Range is a dangerous place to be by yourself. I used to ruck march starting from the Leilehua Golf Course to the Air Assault School and LFC back with no problems. That road was up and down and especially the heat it can kick your ass on a speed march.

I enjoyed my time there - had the opportunity to bushwhack through the gulches, through parts unknown. It can be a very dangerous place, once you step down into the wild. Take care!

This video was better than my actual LandNav experience in my patrol phase of RS. Because of that I HIGHLY recommend any and all LandNav courses or videos BEFORE anyone goes to an elite QC or leadership school in any branch of the military. In short, great video Sergeant and this way, when you're finished talking you dont raise your head to look at the Sea of Confused PFC faces looking back at you. Good on you brother, RLTW!

Ahh good O'l East Range. First place I learned how to land nav. Awesome course in my opinion didnt even have to pull out my compass for most of it, usually just terrain associate.
Thank you SSG, I'll be giving a class on Land Nav soon and the simple method you used should make it easy enough for the unit to retain.
