very true...there are so many lancers in good condition roaming around cbe till date...even i own lancer, still running since 2001, glxd in nilgiris...its still a head turner car in the market

1998 model.diesel. crossed 5 lakhs kilometers. Still sealed engine with good condition. Excellent to ride and travel.

We are unlikely to see a hatchback based on the MQB A0 IN architecture in the near future. New gen Polo is just too expensive to take on rivals like Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno. Agreed that Polo has a fan following, but it doesn’t translate into the kind of volume which justifies investment on localisation. Hatchback is no longer the focus of Volkswagen in India.

We have a Lancer Diesel (1998) with 290k on Odometer with sealed engine. My dad does not want to sell it. He is the second owner, and as it mentioned in the comments it is registered to TN 38 ;)

But, you didn't said that, lancer looking awesome even today. By looks, I have lancer diesel which is 5,00,000 kms on odo, it's best engine. Dont compare refinement with current engine, but reliable is lancer. I have i20 elite too, but I always drive lancer, it still an eye catching car.

The reason behind we are not getting good car's is there is lot of tax for imported cars and our rules are much complicated of foreign manufacturers, for example vw didn't launch the new polo in India because new polo's length little longer so they have to pay more tax similar to sedan so they never launched, for imported sports cars its 150% tax if a car cost 1 crore we will get it in India in 2.5 crores. Inthe time of lancer our economy was more worst very few people in the country could buy powerful cars our roads were much worst too in 90s
