I would love it if you could track down some of her older songs, like "Fordham Road", "Hundred Dollar Bill", "Star for Nick", "Summer of Sam", "Heavy Hitter", "Angels Forever, Forever Angels". Man there are just so many that helped form my soul growing up. I'm a massive fan of "Come When You Call Me America". It's probably one of the coolest songs I have ever heard. I love your reactions!

Man. I love this song, truly. I've been a Lana fanatic since 2012. I haven't always enjoyed her live performances though, aside from mainly the Ultraviolence era when she had a relaxed coolness with her performance style. It seems obvious to me on an intuitive level that she isn't entirely comfortable doing these theatrical performances where sometimes she seems rigid and awkward and unable to let her voice shine. I'll always love this song, but this higher registry and way of singing isn't my favorite. I want her to belt it out soulfully with that mystical charm like she does in the original, where it doesn't feel dictated by the follow along of the audience, instead of this restricted, "proper" sounding style. I just finished writing this as the outro came along - makes more sense why she's singing like that now, but does anyone else get what I mean? I know I have to just let it go and allow the sound to evolve but we hold onto these things because of how they moved us originally.
