I'm curious as to why she sings most of the song in that raspy voice. I'm not familiar with her pre-Lana work nor do I know a lot about her history, so I wonder if that way of singing is in reference to her earlier days / reminiscent of how she sang back then? I'm reading many negative comments about this song, which surprises me, since I find it fascinating. The imaginery I perceive from White Dress is that for over 4 minutes she is looking at her past (as if it was a documentary perhaps). Then, when she sings the chorus at 4:25 with her usual singing voice (a delightful change not because the prior is bad, it's just a beautiful shift), we see her present self as she reflects on who she was and the context she was in. I've listened to Lana since BTD but it's her last two albums that have made me consider her art very highly, especially NFR which is an absolute masterpiece. I believe she's now at a point where she's earned the right to do and experiment with her music in whatever way she wants and it always has her own stamp in it. Few artists can really do that and do it well (Björk immediately comes to mind).

I find it a little bit too much and exaggerated specially when she goes in the high notes. And god knows I love her high notes but here I really don’t know what to think about it. I like the emotions of it but not how it renders i think... and you what’s your point of view ? The only song of the new album I found really out of this world is Dark But Just A Game. But omg her vocals are not well produced, there is a cut on the word « scene » at 1:18 on this song, there are glitches of autotune in Dark But Just a Game at 2:22, such a shame she is still working with Jack, I don’t find this collaboration interesting. This two latest records disappointed me compared to other ones, and it’s not the fault of Lana. The vibes are too chill to suit her hypnotic voice well from my point of view. And I don’t talk about abusive autotune in Tulsa Jesus Freak that destroys her beautiful voice from my opinion. Anyway, I like the fact she experiments new voices textures, new ways of singing, new atmospheres, but I have to admit I am frustrated. She used to give us really better things in the past according to my personal taste. There was something happening in the songs she did that talked to me I don’t really find it anymore in most of the new ones,... and I feel a little bit sad about it

@@everardolongoria don’t be a d!ck , yeah we giggled but we love it , what about it huh??? STFU

Just heard this song for the first time today, just now. I have no clue what emotion I'm feeling, but it's... It's nice. I'll definitely have to listen to this a few more times to understand it. I don't know much about Lana Del Rey and haven't heard her songs in anything but megamixes, but this sounds nice. Definitely different from what I remember hearing in the megamixes, but it's a pleasant surprise.

To me it’s still her saddest. This is probably the most explicitly personal she’s been on a song. She’s being retrospective and wishing she was in the simpler times before the fame. It’s really sad but beautiful

3 жыл бұрын
@@tiffanytaylor7410 i agree I don’t feel it’s sad. But personally didn’t feel the same as you for the two first songs released of COVTCC. For example my favourite songs are Cherry, Burning Desire, Heroin, Pretty When You Cry, Freak, Shades of Cool, West Coast, High By The Beach, Summer Bummer, and so many others that are far away from the sound made by Jack Antonoff. So I don’t find myself in this kind of chill mood of NFR and COTCC, I don’t know if you get what I mean Anyway if you love it as it is I am happy for you 😃
