Lana Del Rey - Mariners Apartment Complex (Lyrics)
You took my sadness out of context
At the Mariners Apartment Complex
I ain't no candle in the wind
I'm the board, the lightning, the thunder
Kind of girl who's gonna make you wonder
Who you are and who you've been
And who I've been is with you on these beaches
Your Venice bitch, your die-hard, your weakness
Maybe I could save you from your sins
So kiss the sky and whisper to Jesus
My, my, my, you found this, you need this
Take a deep breath, baby, let me in
You lose your way, just take my hand
You're lost at sea, then I'll command your boat to me again
Don't look too far, right where you are, that's where I am
I'm your man
I'm your man
They mistook my kindness for weakness
I fucked up, I know that, but Jesus
Can't a girl just do the best she can?
Catch a wave and take in the sweetness
Think about it, the darkness, the deepness
All the things that make me who I am
And who I am is a big-time believer
That people can change, but you don't have to leave her
When everyone's talking, you can make a stand
'Cause even in the dark, I feel your resistance
You can see my heart burning in the distance
Baby, baby, baby, I'm your man (Yeah)
You lose your way, just take my hand
You're lost at sea, then I'll command your boat to me again
Don't look too far, right where you are, that's where I am
I'm your man
I'm your man
Catch a wave and take in the sweetness
Take in the sweetness
You want this, you need this
Are you ready for it?
Are you ready for it?
Are you ready for it?

It really might be the best. I’ve considered ‘Brooklyn Baby’ to be her best song for almost a decade, but after listening to this one for a few years now, it might have dethroned it. Just a masterpiece, most of her songs have a case for being considered the best.

this might be my most comforting song. i come back here everytime i need lana to comfort me. its like lana is directly speaking to me, healing me! ive been fighting my chronic depression since i was 13, now i will be 19 still havent healed yet. sadly i think i might need more time to get over my sadness and luckily i got access to internet before 3 years, since then i`ve been better , my friends, strangers, music they all have been helping me a lot. tysm lana 💌
She deserved the grammy for this masterpiece album

Ha I'm a 55 year old guy who s also just got hooked on Lana Can't stop singing her songs and playing guitar to tunnel under ocean boulevard The atmosphere she cultivates is next level dreamy emotional and complex as story telling
Lana doesn't look up trends and dont make radio friendly hits... she just bring art as she wants it and don't ask anybody and satisfy her fans with every tone, Thank you.

My favorite LDR song I think. Pure perfection.
Why people are sleeping on this ? It's a masterpiece , one of her best songs . The lyrics are pure poetry and her voice sounds fuckin angelic ,it really deserves more attention

agree entirely -- it's just beautiful -- the way she switches from the immediate [he mistook] to the general [they mistook: her, the press, etc] is great song writing -- and the vocal, melody & production = sublime -- i saw her in dublin sing this live a couple of months ago, and she clearly loved singing it

Falling asleep to a song isn't necessarily a bad thing. It doesn't mean it's boring you. It means it calms you down, relaxes you, makes you dream.

Lana Del Rey 😢❤ she's an amazing
This is the best song ever made and written. I love it so much I literally cry because I love it so much. I get full body chills from these lyrics…like “they mistook my kindness for weakness” or “kiss the sky and whisper to Jesus my, my, my you found this, you need this” and everything. I love lana so much and I’ll never stop.
"The song is about this time I took a walk late at night with a guy I was seeing, and we stopped in front his friend’s apartment complex, and he put his hand around my shoulder, and he said “I think we are together because we’re both similar, like we’re both really messed up” and I thought it was the saddest thing I’d ever heard. And I said, “I’m not sad, I didn’t know that’s why you thought you were relating to me on that level, I’m actually doing pretty good”. And he was upset, and that’s when I wrote the song. I thought, I had to do so many times, where you know like I had to sort of step on that role where I was showing the way and I was sort of being the brighter light. But that’s why it’s so cool that you’re playing it. ‘Cause I thought that I’d just put it out and it would be one of those things that I’d put out just to have there for myself, but it’s cool being able to share it with people too.." I disagree with you. There was a time when Lana was very unhappy and whilst his comment reminded her of that, it also made her realise that coming out of her own struggle had given her the power to help guide him to a better place too.

I lived at Mariners Village (Mariners apartment complex) and it is the most beautiful amazing place. It looks like Disneyland meets Hawaii meets pirate village. There are little rivers running throughout the village and so much nature. It is right between the marina and Venice Beach so you look out over boats and seals while you sit on the decks or walk along the water promenade.
Lana says it perfectly in her first line, "you took my sadness out of context" -- stop hating on this poor woman for simply stating how she feels!

Never a truer statement! LOVE her... ultimate feminist in my opinion. She is not afraid to be herself. You do you, I will do me and Lana del Ray will teach us how!
It’s crazy how much her music has changed from the start of her career to now. Born to die she was heartbroken UV depressed honeymoon accepted what’s going on and as the years went by she just gotten stronger 🏙🎶💗
