I used to be a big nirvana fan I listened to all the songs from the band... I looked for covers but I never thought someone would do as good as kurt. This cover, however, is amazing not only she has a perfect control over the low notes (which is expected of Lana) but she handled the high notes really well. I'm not going to lie, I wish Kurt and Lana would sing this together :(

Music is a science since our ears and brains reactive positively to certain notes together which make harmony/melodies/ different chords w/e. shes out of tune i.e. not hitting the right frequencies and when she changes the pitch of the note on purpose, shes fucking up the note which was intended to be part of the chord which is being made with the guitar and bass. True Nirvana fans appreciate other Artists from every musical genre covering Kurt's songs. Those who say that the covers don't sound exactly like Nirvana are not true fans. Kurt would have loved people covering his songs. He adores creativity and especially when they make it their own. He always thought he songs weren't good enough and for other people to cover his songs and made them their own way would have truly made Kurt feel happy. As a fan of Nirvana since 1987, and an advocate for positive mental health basically ever since, I have to say, when we can get a mainstream appeal pop artist like this to cover the agony of Kurt's soul, I'm just sayin', we are living in better times, friends. Love to all you kids, take care, we'll get through this together.

@@Poppsss what else then? My teenage daughter listens and loves her Music. We live in Europe..It is mainstream pop music but it doesn't necessarily mean something negative. Wow, people get crazy here. I won't share my thoughts about it anymore. People take it way too personal.

@@abenaawitidikeledi4993 Lana's only pop albums are born to die, paradise, and lust for life but even lust for life is more hip hop trap... ultraviolence is ROCK, Norman Rockwell is also a subgenre of rock, aka is surf rock, her album sirens is folk, honeymoon is psychedelic.. I don't really know what you're trynna prove? That's like calling amy winehouse a electro dubstep singer it just makes no sense

Her singing is so emotional, she can feel the song in her body, in her heart.

I'm a huge nirvana fan. I love grunge and rock ect. This is beautiful. That is all :)

Kurt wouldn't have cared about her covering the song. He was a very nice guy. He would be angry at the people talking badly about Lana.

Some people are ridiculous. I mean, if anyone touches their precious nirvana songs, they're terrible. i for one love Nirvana and if you are judging people or insulting people then kurt would not approve. I think Lana did a brilliant job and you all need to grow up.

"Kurt would've liked it" "Kurt would've hated it" you don't know what he would think and we won't know, all that matters is whether you like it or not and I love it so stop thinking that every Nirvana cover is crap just because Kurt isn't around anymore.

This is my favourite performance by Lana. I love the energy in this video

The best cover of this song

Lana is a queen. But what she does to sustain that note is she uses a vocal technique that involves circulating air through your mouth while singing. She's breathing in and out while singing here. You can tell she's doing this because she brings the note up and down and up and down. Trained vocalists do this in order to sustain notes in their upper chest voice.

That's actually quite incorrect... The only thing she is using here is her diaphragm as every professional and trained singer does. If you are well trained you should be able to use your breath wisely and make it last in order to sing a long phrase. What you're saying is completely unnecessary in this case, this technique is mainly used by wind instrument players not by singers. And definitely not by Lana in this clip

I love this cover, it really suits her style. She killed it. I'm a huge Nirvana fan & have seen basically every cover of this song ever, but this one is prob my favorite. Dead Sara's is also good. You can really hear the Nirvana influence in her music, this is a great cover & interpretation of one of the greatest songs of all time
