I got into fountain pens because of hand injury. I liked them so much that I made hobby of collecting them. The Lamy Nexx is the most comfortable pen in my collection! It's the one I use when I plan to write for any length of time. I don't care for the looks. I keep telling myself that "form follows function..." This is the first time I've seen your channel. I just became a subscriber.

Thanks for another very good video. I'm glad to see the Nexx getting some attention. I really like using it and have had one or more ever since they first came out. I've just bought the 2021 special edition with the black cap. The Nexx and the CP1 are my two favourite Lamy modern ink pens (followed by the Accent) as both are ideal for long-writing sessions. I find the Nexx weight and grip make it an ideal writing pen. Stick in a cartridge and it is perfect. For the record, I gave my Safari away, as I did not think that it was nearly as good. Very uncomfortable to hold. A friend with arthritis also uses the Nexx because of the wider, softer grip. Classic piece of design.

Glad to hear from a fellow Nexx user! I think this is definitely an underrated pen in Lamy's line. It is one of the most comfortable fountain pens out there.

This has been my main fountain pen for taking notes for the past 10 years or so (M nib). I didn't remember the model name but looked up the rubberized grip and triangular shape and it was easy to find. I really like the grip in particular, the fact that it's rubber means that it's not cold to the touch. I also appreciate that it's pretty light, although I don't use it posted. It's light enough without the cap that using it posted would likely change the center of gravity by a noticeable amount. All in all a great pen, I'm very happy with it. At under $30 it's a good deal.

The Lamy Nexx was the step up version of the Lamy ABC. This was aimed at older students in the European market. A standard Nexx comes with the Lamy A nib (which is one of my favorite nibs). Please try the A nib. Since it is a learning nib, it is almost impossible to hold the pen at a wrong angle while learning to write.I have purchased A nibs and use them on Safaris and AL-Star pens. It is my go to nib for fast and on the spot note taking.

One drawback is that the A nib is so stiff. In my experience with fountain pens, eventually the nib bends into the 'perfect' form, adjusting itself individually through months of applied habitual pressure. However, I also remember that writing with the Lamy ABC that has the A nib was so incredibly smooth and easy. However, that one Parker fountain pen I had for years that eventually had its nib formed out of shape, that pen wrote 'perfectly'. Don't underestimate that.

The Original Lamy ABC was a pen thst literally every elementary school student in Germany had when I studied. So, it was very common that one would take the desk mates pen home, too, or not know which was which. So, one could individualize the pen by writing the name on the cap. With the same idea the Nexx cap is designed. One can attach whatever band to the cap to individualize it so that there would be no problems in school. You must understand that writing with fountain pens is a must in Germany's elementary school and thus all students have Lamy pens. That's why all the Lamy pens come in so many different colors and it is even common to stamp the name into the material, too.

Haven't heard of this pen until now. It looks to me like a wedge-shaped Faber-Castell Loom, at least back when the Looms were more colorful. And speaking of colors, I like the cap color of this one. That bright teal is fun.

Does the grip on the nexx become sticky with time or does it's stay the same kinda grippy the day u brought it. Most of the items supporting a rubbery kinda grip becomes sticky and irritating with time u end up just throwing the whole thing out then. Do u think it might share the same fate. ??

@@BlakesBroadcast Finally I got myself a Lamy Nexx EF nib. The EF nib sits between my Pilots Fine and Medium and I like the way the Lamy EF nib feels on paper. The grip is not the way I hold my pen but this thick curved grip on the nexx is a little forgiving than the sharp edge safari grip and I have found my way to hold it comfortably. tbh i am really enjoying writing with it. i also like the weight its less compared to my other pens don't feel fatigue.

It is called "Lamy Nexx M" because it comes with the M (Mittel meaning Middle or In-Between) nib attached. A "Lamy Nexx A" would be the same with a A (Anfänger meaning Beginner) nib. The "M" does NOT stand for "metal" as you have mentioned in the video. When you have a bunch of fountain pens with various nibs, eventually you will always name the nib type after the Pen, too.

  • @BlakesBroadcast

I am not sure this is correct. Here they show the Nexx M with an A nib: www.lamy.com/en/lamy-nexx-m/ and here it is available with three nibs options: www.jetpens.com/LAMY-Nexx-M-Fountain-Pen-Graphite-A-Nib/pd/6036?msclkid=3b98abb534e614ffa1bac8c2f1ca988c&Product%20Ads(BSC)&Ad%20group%20%231 I do believe it is called the "M" because of the metal trim on the cap which the regular Nexx does not have. www.lamy.com/en/lamy-nexx/

Personally I really don’t like the looks of this pen. When I was in 7th class or something like that I even had one after I had lost my vista. Felt like a big downgrade for me back then. In addition it was advertised as a fountain for learners and I thus I thought it didn’t fit me. I still I remember how happy I was when after a year or so I got an Al star that I still have.

@@BlakesBroadcast, I have never heard someone lengthen the second vowel before. Everyone I have ever heard pronounce it lengthens the first vowel, which is also how it would be pronounced in German (Lamy being a German brand).
