hyeboi Melo has a ton of upside with his ball handling ability, craftiness, and passing. His shooting will come around and he has shown flashes of being a very solid defender. Everyone said Lonzo was trash just cause he struggled shooting. I’ll admit, the media made him out to be an amazing scorer which he never was. Lonzo has shown amazing improvements this year and I think Melo’s main strengths are being overlooked. Keep doubting him

one guy who can fix your shooting is reggie miller! kenny also can help! these are outside nba and their help can be rendered without bias! and kenny has great form as well. both are excellent teacher of fundamentals. steve kerr can also do it but he is with GSW! but you must be a natural shooter. one guy who is not natural shooter but streaky but an intelligent shooter is LBJ! he always gets to his spot before he takes that 3 pointer. And when in mood he can launch from the logo! and of course there is robotic kawhi--who can shoot from 3 as well( these 2 folks have improved over time). PG also can shoot but normally he starts erratically before he picks up, same goes to WB. AD can shoot but he wont take too many shots! but in the bubble we are discovering some top notch shooters: mitchell--9/13 other day, murray 9/10 other day or something! and miami shooter! so there are some steph and klay caliber shooters around and coming up thick and fast. harden can shoot but he takes a lot. oh CP3 is a fine shooter when in groove! this indiana guy i have no idea where he went. harris of some team can shoot( he was with clev). who else?

The fact that Melo even got to average 7 assists with his teammates missing open shots like that should really show how talented he is. If he is doing that in the NBA, he'd easily average over 12 assists. Overall, he got the skill and the length, he just needs the discipline and he will be dangerous.

It seems like most of his issues are about his selection and discipline. It's not that he can't play defence, it's IF he focuses on defences he'll be great. It's not that he can't shoot, it's IF he learns to choose the right shots, he'll be a threat. It's not that he can't finish in traffic, it's that he gets either too fancy or doesn't use his size (muscle will help). I think he's got so much potential and he's the best player in this draft. We've seen Lonzo change and i think he can too!

He can be an amazing offensive player in the NBA. Humble kid who has gotten a LOT better and will continue to as well. On the other hand he's going to be a serious liability on defense off the jump, but has the athleticism and length to turn himself into a solid defender with time. I like LaMelo.

Chel MG yes of course but you can say that about any player in this draft. I would take him 1 just because of his upsides. And I mention about his downsides because I think they’re easily fixable: the reason he’s sloppy on defence is because the first time he’s ever been pressured to play defence was in the nbl (only 12 games) so of course he’s still learning and can easily improve with more time, and shot selection is something they can easily work and help him with watching film and just educating him. Melos downsides are a result of poor and inconsistent coaching so that’s why I’m not worried at all.
