Also everything they do on guitar is the essentials you need to master for precise and STRONG rythem guitar in metal and to this day I am nowhere near how they play...I mean as the palaces burn...some riffs on that are just stunning.

I think this is because he has to constantly watch Willie and play along with him. Lead guitarist is a misnomer. They actually have to follow the rhythm player and that is what Mark is doing. He is constantly looking at Willie's guitar to make sure he is in time with what is coming next. IMO the lead is a much harder job.

Music is all about perception and people like different sounds\songs etc for different reasons. When you get to your "instrumental peak" it's all about preference. :)

What an amazing concert. They were the headliners and Devil Driver was the opening act. I was listing to a lot of Fury of the Makers Hand at the time. My two favourite bands at the time started and finished that concert. Still one of the funnest days of my life. 11 am till 1am tue next day. Gwar covered me in red and green dye too haha.

i just got a guitar for christmas and after learning the 1st 1 1/2 minutes of iron maiden's fear of the dark, i feel pretty good about my playing. then i see these two and i just want to lie down in a fetal position and go catatonic

+wishuhadmyname I felt the same when I started. If you wanna learn something just go for it. Most of the time it's easier than you think if you start slowly and get up the speed. In the beginning it helps to have a guitar teacher that helps you get the technique right and shows you how to be more efficient in your playing.

Patience! It doesn't happen overnight. Practice practice practice. These guys have been playing for many years and they probably struggled in the beginning as we all do! Don't go fetal, go rockin! Seeing as your post is 2 years old, how's your playing now? Hope you didn't quit.

I have tried to like these guys and they are undeniably talented but they just bore me with their "math metal" type riffs. They all end up sounding the same to me and i am a fan of a lot of extreme metal such as Morbid angel, Slayer ,Crowbar , Biohazard, Slipknot , Mercyful fate etc so i dont normally say that. Different strokes for different folks.

Indeed, +Josh Pelton - Music is such a vast pool of things for many different kinds of people. One of the greatest things about it is how different kinds reach different people in different ways. To each his own, indeed - just like amps! Thanks for watching. :)
