I totally agree. When they first introduced Lalo I wasn't too excited about another villain. I thought it wasn't necessary and would bring confusion to the overall plot. How mistaken I was. Lalo, in my opinion, stole the show. At least every scene he was in. Tony Dalton is an amazing actor and played that part to perfection. Not sure if the writers/producers intended to do this or not. But one of things that kept him charming to us as an audience is the fact that up until that Howard scene and him protecting himself from Gus's assassins, all of his killings were done off camera and away from us as an audience. I mean we understood that killed those people like poor Fred. But we never witness it first hand until that Howard scene. And at the point we truly understood how dangerous Lalo was. Lalo's character is so interesting that I would argue that he deserves a spin off series of his own, or at least a movie. I would love to see how he became what he is, why he has such a pleasant and charming demeanor on the outside but such a dark and pathological disposition on the inside. In 2016 I had a pretty intense dart match with him at the Albuquerque Press Club; I came from behind for a miraculous win. I didn’t know who he was at the time and I’ve got to say he was cool; he was also very good at darts.
Lalo was a gamechanger in the series. Of course Better Call Saul never had its ups and downs like The Walking Dead had, but when TWD had its Problems with lack of Excitement around Season 6, they introduced a charismatic gruesome villian and the show gained lots of attention. And before Lalo, Negan was my favorite villian. I think Lalo is the best villian in TV show history. Although Negan had a much more devastating and feral introduction. But Lalos Character wasn't 'pre written', like Negan was in TWD graphic novel. It was reverse engineered character designment, based on a single sentence, what makes this role just more impressive. He almost achieved his goal, to expose Gus to the cartel. His mistake was to underestimate Gus in this final situation and to savour too much on his 'victory'. This is what gets in the way of the salamancas a few times. Like when Marco got the Axe to take revenge on Hank.

The character Lalo is so comparable to Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds... they're both charismatic, intelligent and sinister. Unlike the rest of the other villains who are easily identified, they inspire fear by not showing their hand.
So many people screw up prequels and sequels, but I LOVED that Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul really tried to pay attention to details and connect the dots well! For instance, in Breaking Bad, Saul says that Walt and Jesse are total amateurs, and in Better Call Saul, that show REALLY explores the difference between the amateurs and the pros! Lalo was a different level of bad guy, and between he and Gus, they make Walt really look like the amateur he actually was. Walt, (frankly) was more lucky than good. As a chemist, he was top tier, but as a criminal, his pride caused as many problems as his chemistry could solve.
Holy shit I knew he seemed familiar... he's Sr Avila!
So Lalo killed Gus indirectly when he gave Hector the bell, which Walter would later turn into a detonator.

Lalo is the best TV villain since Walter White. Gilligan & Gould are masters of their craft. Can't wait to see what they do next, hopefully it's together. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if HBO offered them a massive pile of money to write/produce seasons 7 & 8 of GoT, since it was clear after 6 (really after 5) that D&D were in way over their heads.

I will always love Gus, but Lalo is my favorite villain of this universe. He has so much real charisma, he's extremely charming and intelligent, and he actually fits the bill of his character and speaks beautiful native Spanish. Gus's struggle with Spanish has always turned me off just a bit if I'm honest. Hearing Lalo speak truly as a native, utilizing Mexican slang and colloquialisms is pretty awesome after 8 seasons worth of people in bb/bcs who are clearly not native Spanish speakers
I love the actor Tony Dalton he's from my lil border town of Laredo dude is good.
Tony Dalton. Legend.
Ironically Hector's partly responsible for Gus killing Lalo. If he hadn't pretended to make peace and had a smug "My nephew's gonna kill you chicken man" look on his face Gus wouldn't have realised Lalo was alive and Lalo could have gotten the evidence of Gus plotting against the cartel to Eladio and killed Gus, Mike and the rest.

MV; an awesome recap with a ton of good stuff I missed. Thanks!!
Lalo has to be my favorite character in the Breaking Bad series He’s so fun So charismatic So dangerous So terrifying So smart So great Tony Dalton is a gem to join the series and seriously steal the show One of the best characters ever and performed so well If their is going to be another spin off, I’d love it to be about the Salamanca’s, or at least Lalo
Lalo: charming, smart, psychopath
Great video! I just watched him in Sr. Avila. It's brutal and dark, but so damn good!
I think the show implies that Lalo is an evolved human. Sounds crazy but hear me out. In his action scenes, he's always moving in a prowling jaguar sort of way. It shows him doing above-human things like quickly and quietly jumping through a tiled ceiling into the other side. He once fearlessly hung upside down firing machine guns like a bat. He also seems to have above-normal intelligence. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a 160-pt IQ. His memory seems perfect and quickly analyzes any situation and personality and story someone may tell. He doesn't seem to feel stress, anger, or fear. It seems he still has human emotions since he sincerely feels sorry and love for his uncle. He shows this emotion slightly by sighing when he's alone which shows that it was a sincere display of affection. In one scene, he set a timer for 1 hour to get some sleep. He woke up exactly 3 seconds before the timer as if he does this daily. It's as if he only requires 1 hour of sleep per day to function. It's very Dracula-like. So maybe... he has a mutation that gives him these slightly above average human qualities. The next step in evolution.

Why sending Kim was a bad idea? When Gus asked Kim why Lalo sent her he told him that Jimmy talked himself out of it, but does it matter. What would've changes if Saul went?
@walter2695
Жыл бұрын
I think Gus knew that it was just a decoy plan either way even if it was saul or kim going because when she gave him the answer of jimmy talking Lalo out of it he knew it was bull. Lalo just wanted someone to distract Gus's guys long enough to get to the laundry undetected. either Jimmy or Kim would have told mike that lalo was at the apartment with one of them. Good thing Gus planted that gun in the construction site or else he would have been dead before breaking bad haha

@@Henrique.Souza0601 yup. Gus knew Lalo wasn't at the apartment. And Mike fell for it.
I really am up for a Lalo prequel. It could be something like "Kung Fu". Put him in difficult, dangerous situations he has to deal with. Then a flashback to his training by his various teachers, Don Hector, Don Eladio, his own father and other vicious cartel operatives. Then he takes care of the business at hand. At the series end, we sees why he laughs with his last breath. As he leads his soul away, Santa Muerte comforts him: Don't worry Lalo, you did alright; Hector gets him with the bell".

I want a sequel all about Lalo's ghost.
Lalo is played by Tony Dalton who plays the role in HBO’s Mexican series Sr. Ávila. Note: Sr. is Señor = capo de tuti capo = the Don. Also: Lalo is diminutive for Eduardo (Edward).
Double thumbs up...well done!
“The only man who can make a killer taco and hurt you in a million different ways” The disrespect to Tuco is unreal
*"He sees a cockaroach and gets an idea...." that made me laugh...😂😂😂😂*
Lalo is the most dangerous villain of this universe because he has the brain of Guss but the violence of Tuco. A deadly combo.
I love the little touches in BCS like the snacks and cooler that Lalo brought to the stakeout.

They did an amazing job casting Lalo. It’s crazy to think over a decade ago they had Saul scream out random names that became true characters. I wasn’t a big fan of season 1 & 2 of better call Saul season 3 it finally picks up the pace and gives you the breaking bad experience
It was meth not coke as you keep mentioning throughout the video.
I swear I want to see Lalo and Tuco interact in a scene or 2
Lalo reminds me of a version of anton chigurh but with a sense of humor.
Truly one of the best actors ever. Well done mr Jorge de Guzman!
Great character and played by a really talented actor. Hope to see him in more stuff in the future
Poor nacho, putting away one salamanca after the other and then lalo comes It's like fighting a hard boss with multiple phases Just won't fucking die lol
11:27 is when you saw the monster inside lalo, as he litters the pollos hermanos cup. That small act said a lot about his character, especially at that time.
Thank you, I didn't get half of what you explain here when I watched the series!
He got that bell for Hector from a fire, and in the end it returned to a fire.
Lalo is just a common nick name for all men named Eduardo. At least in Mexican Spanish I’m not sure about other Spanish speaking countries but we Mexicans like to give certain nick names to peoples names. For example people named Jesus are nick named Chewie, people named Soledad are nick named Chole, and people named Eduardo are nick named Lalo.

Such a pitiful way for Lalo Salamanca to meet his fate! I understand the writers of the show put themselves in a corner in regards to Lalo. I just think they could've given him a more fitting/glorious ending! The Lalo we came to know would never be so sloppy having finally achieved his goal. A man who single handily overcame the most deadly assassin squad around. Is undone by a tactically incompetent Gus Fring?!🤦♂️ Lalo deserved better!
You missed Joaquin Salamanca.

You completely forgot Hector Salamanca when listing the Salamanca family members we have met
They didn't explain how saul knew it was nacho that set up lalo... seems like he would assume Mike killed lalo or had him killed. How did he tie nacho to it?
Lalo was a known cartel boogeyman in real life. Many of the nick names are repeated throughout South American history, but especially in Mexico. I think I knew of the one inspiring this character. His specialty was setting up distribution lines and kidnapping people. Around 2007, there was a case that made news in Texas. If mind serves me well.

Lalo Salamanca, the best villain on tv 2022, should of been nominated for a Emmy
What a great video, what a great character! Best villain!
Hi, a Mexican here, more specifically a Michoacano from the city of Apatzingan (one of the most prominent cities relationated with narcotrafic and cartels here in México) and yes, i can confirm the Salamancas are heavily inspired by "La Familia Michoacana" being Tuco the clear manifestation of a capo once called Servando Gómes aka *"Tuta"* and Lalo what i think is inspired by Amado Carrilo aka "El señor de los cielos". Anyway. The Familia Michoacana was based on basic family principles, being your amigos and brothers your top priority so much that this cartel had a Code like the Yakuzas about protocols of conduct that made you being respected inside the Clan like not working with kids, not desecrating the bodys, not raping wifes, always respect god and your parents. It was weird.
