It has been a year since the dancer-scholar-writer-academic Lakshmi Viswanathan (27 Jan 1944 - 19 Jan 2023) passed away. Her contribution to Indian dance and dance scholarship is unparalleled. She was a dear friend and we continue to miss her very much at Vaak.
To celebrate her artistry we share her version of the evergreen Tanjore Quartet varnam, Mohamana. This was performed by Lakshmi at the Azad Bhavan Auditorium, Delhi on 09 Feb 1987. The performance details are mentioned below:
