Lakota Wisdom Keepers

What a gift! 3 Generations of Lakota Spiritual Leaders : Wallace Black Elk, Dave Swallow Jnr and Nathan Chasing Horse speak their wisdom. The Lakota., along with the other native peoples of the Earth have kept the true wisdom alive for many years; it is a blessing to listen to their words. Directed by Nick Halsey - Eye of the Spotted Eagle Productins
/ eyespottedeagle
I had the privilege & honor to participate in Ceremony with Wallace Black Elk (Wanblicikala) when he was here walking the Red Road... I cherish those memories and the wisdom he shared.
Many thanks Nick!

I'm not native but, we lived around a lot of Lakotas. so I learned so much growing up from them about the world. the spirit world, prayers, singing, going to pow wows, sitting sweat lodges, I love it. we are all connected. the amount of wisdom is beautiful. :-)

Cultural wisdom must be handed down through the generations, & must be kept alive in the hearts of the young ..... just as cultural language must be taught to the youth & the children, because they are the promise of tomorrow. I know young people must embrace mainstream education, but at the same time, they must also be steeped in their own culture.

Its amazing to me to be able to listen to these words. It wasn't until 1978 (I believe) that my people were given the "right" to practice our religion and share our beliefs with the world. At one time, medicine men were sent to insane asylums for the entirety of their lives for believing that they could converse with animals and rocks etc...Ironic and beautiful at the same time.

fourwinds4444 Thank you for sharing the video! I agree with you whole heartedly, I feel like the great awakening is in full gear and I am so thankful! My sister actually called me a few days ago saying she is finally seeing what is really going on. That alone says ALOT (if you knew my sister you would understand; city girl, loves expensive clothing and high end makeup etc, used to watch Keeping up with the Kardashians etc) YAY!!

+Liz V This is true. We had to hide to do our ceremonies. It was illegal in this country. you could go to prison or be put away in an institution for practicing our beliefs. This is in the land of freedom of religion. Mitakuye Oyasin.

+Liz V There is a deep understanding here and the words "The truth will set you free" transcends the myth of what "religion" really is. It isn't a coincidence that spiritual peoples of any area are demonized for what they know. We are all connected but the mind has t be fully attentive and the heart will guy you through the illusion put in place.

stan hootzz Of course, but Indians were really connected spiritually, and are peaceful. Maybe there’s a reason why people came here for wisdom, God works in mysterious ways. Someone told me God speaks through people, and you wouldn’t even know it. May all my brothers and sisters have a blessed day.

I can fly in my dreams and I see people that don't care to fly, they are everywhere but once I took another under my wing who was willing to fly. Once I flew so high that I cannot relate anything to what I saw other than color, light, and straight line of colors beside darkness.

Descendant of Crazy Horse ( among many), had to cut off emotions, train and worship in secret. Feel like an alien most times. The days I run through the woods in winter or when I feel the most " normal". As for emotions, can't share them. They always want to match scars with you or belittle your feedback, which helps no one and makes them feel better. Silence seems to be the remedy.

We Lakotas have, " A Way of Life" and we did not consider calling it a Religion. We believe that our Creator gave us our Sacred Breath of Life and Religion was not in our language so to truly understand our way of life. Means one would have to live it during that time. And living it meant to live life as one long Prayer of Thanksgiving...in our Sacred Ceremony of Life. It is a different time now...just as it was a different time for our Lakota Ancestors. Yet, we are still expressing our connection to all Life, and even in our language, Mita Ku Ye Oyasin means, "We Are All Related," or it can mean, "All My Relatives." ...giving quick note.

There is hope for the whites too. We have old ways that call to us too, that call for a spiritual connection with the Earth, and all life on it. I find the essence of Native American teachings are similar in many ways to ours. We just have to go back farther in our history.

Hello Jake, I hear your words.. and I have to say that many people realize what goes on on the Rez. I have personally spent time there and others have too. What Wallace Black, Dave Swallow and Nathan Chasing Horse know is that focusing on that does not bring resolution. Focusing on the traditional Spiritual values does. There are so many programs now on the Rez which focus on helping the young people not turn to drink but to turn to Spirituality.

People should take walks out into the wilderness, to get to know a part of themselves they didn't know regularely enough. To feel more secure around large groups of people vs. being amongst the trees is an illusion. They are cutting themselves off at the root, making formthemselves a slow death from within. The only time they feel the soil is when it is too late to walk on, when they are being burried undernieth it.

Hi Eva...the idea of "7th Generation" is held amongst the Lakota and other Native American tribes but also amongst the Hawaiian and Polynesian nations, the South American Indians.. most indigenous peoples. It is the idea of the number 7.... and reaching back to the 7 generations before you and the 7 generations to come... as in the Iroquois Nation would not make a decision without considering what effect it would have on the 7th generation to come. If we all made decisions that way (and companies did) there would be no pollution, war etc etc. So in a sense each Generation , the "7th Generation" but further, I believe Nathan here is referring to the time we are in now... this great transformation which IS happening on Mother Earth.. people waking up, people going back to the Ancient ways and the "wayshowers" those people who are leading the way: following their hearts, making decisions from their heart with reverence for the Ancestors (7 generations back) and for those to come.. 7 generations going forward

Its interesting to see some of the core issues bring called upon or "reflected" in today's works of art , some of the "institutions of influence" within European society directly attacked our trust and value in the wisdom expression of our spirits inner voice , these institutions wove this into aspects of our perception's and this has brought out in recent time's a lot of conceren as to there impact upon how we come to address or "recognize" our circle of relations and the messages they "voice' in addressing deep balance issues. this deeply impacts our ability to "see" them on an inner level. in this case in example from Calvinisum but examples of this exist in a number of other institutions we have come in contact with historically, kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYaFyqurZtexqbQ.html .. a lot of conceren arises as to there numbing impact upon one of the most vital aspects of the human spirit when it comes to recognizing and inwardly resolving the roots of the issues we face when a structure is bringing about chaos and this voice screams inside ,, " hey take a look here, that's the roots of your problem"
