Lakota Flag Song for Native American Veterans
St. Joseph’s Indian School’s drum group, the Chalk Hill Singers, sing the Lakota Flag Song.
The Lakota (Sioux) history of the Lakota Flag Song was created to commemorate Native American veterans returning from WWI and WWII, linking their service to the akíčhita traditions of protecting their land, people, and culture.
The video includes the Lakota Flag Song translation.
St. Joseph's Indian School, an apostolate of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, partners with Native American children and families to educate for life -- mind, body, heart, and spirit.
