I think he killed her when he was drunk. She hated his alcoholism and one day, she couldn't take it anymore, so she began calling him out on it like many times before. He then, in a drunken rage, killed her.

this is such an overused and boring plot. I sure hope it's not this because it will be so cringe. not because of the plot, but because she could've died many ways provided with stuff in the game and out of all things, you choose drunk plot. it's so dissapointing if that happen.

@kom2876 I mean, that's the only time you see an angry vision of her. Plus, it's supposed to look like an old horror movie, so old tropes/plot devices could most likely be used for this. Whenever a character mourns over someone else, at one point, you eventually see where it all went wrong. The alcoholism looks like the breaking point in this.

My theory is this… Red and his wife move to the cabin. At first, things are great. However, things gradually go south. Red’s wife is upset at his alcohol use. To make matters worse, Red questions his wife’s fidelity, as seen as the man in the window. Whether his wife cheated or not is unknown, but Red is insecure. During a fight, Red’s wife attempts to leave the island. However, Red either sabotages the boat OR the wife accidentally crashes the boat. Either way, the wife dies, and Red blames himself. The wife dies blaming Red, and Red blames himself. That is enough for the wife to return as a monster to drag red into the depths of the lake.

Personally, I'd say that the land of the lake was cursed by Red's ancestor and the wife could actually die from a normal death and still become a zombie, because of the curse

you clearly dont know the full story of the lakeview cabin games. Red murdered his wife but due to some cult the water had some special qualities which revived her and she wanted revenge. I dont remember what drove red to murder her though

What's the rest of the series? I've been looking for a remake of this game for a very long time.

One thing to note: this game is a movie. What i mean by this is that lakeview cabin is actually the name of a movie series based on real events that occur in the lakeview cabin verse (yes ik its confusing). Red in the movies is a combination of two figures in the Lakeview cabin real world. Those being Walt and Red (yes its seriously this convoluted) The actual events said movie is based on goes like this: There was a man named walt who lived in a lakeview cabin. He kept going to the lake and seeing visions of his wife murdering him. These visions were proven true when he discovered his wife was part of a cult dead set on reviving red, using Joe as the vessal, killing Joe in the process. In retaliation, Walt raped and murdered his wife (hence why she's pregnant in this remake). However this victory was short lived as the killing of his wife on top of his ever worsening mental health led him to commiting suicide by drowning in that same lake. This ghost of him now has hardened his heart to do whatever he can to do as he pleases.

Hell. YES. I’d love to see you cover the rest of these games! They’re some of the first games to ever get me invested in a horror game in terms of story and lore.

The entire Lakeview Cabin series deserves a video

I thought it seemed that he crashed while drunk driving the boat and that killed her, which was why she yelled at him if he drank. The bottle floating seemed like a give away.

the peeping tom may imply a) that Red killed his wife for cheating and the baby not being his. or b) the peeping tom is her real husband and Red is the cheater, the baby being his.

Maybe he didn't kill his wife. Her death could be an accident. Boats not properly maintained will fall apart. Maybe he told her not to use the boat and she ignored him.

@@Gooniath yeah even if both love each other alcohol can mess with your mind probably a fight of some sort of you drink the alcohol in some parts of the game you can see visions on how their relationship was and in one of the vision you can see she wasn't fond of him drinking and she screamed at him so one thing lead to another and I think you can imagine what could have happened

my theory is that the lakeview cabin story are all recreational story from the book that was founded by the producer. the producer most likely made many movie inspired from the book. the thing is that in the original ver epilogue, red kill his wife due to her belong to the cult and being a monster. he also killed his children in order to end the cultist bloodline. the fetus somehow survive and live under the sewer outside the cinema.

I think that the boat, which is broken- which also has bottles swimming next to it, suggest Red, killed his wife by accident, maybe during a boat trip, he drank to much hit the rocks, and she drowned after falling in. He would basically still feel guilty.

This version of the game certainly gives a more clear view of the ghost and Red's relationship. Specifically her reaction to Red's drinking. I wonder if it's meant to imply that he didn't murder her, since he clearly still misses her and regrets losing her, but that she may have drowned when the boat wrecked. Possibly he took her out on the boat one night, he drank too much and something happened that caused the boat to break and sink (not really sure what could have caused that in a calm lake, though). I always took it as him having murdered her before, and this definitely could still imply he did so (likely while drunk), but the boat stuff makes it seem more like an accident or adds a different level of maliciousness to it. But considering the ghost could be memories and he still keeps her photo up, it suggests he still cares about her. But that doesn't preclude murder, as lots of people do things they regret while under the influence. Doesn't excuse it, of course.

this is a really interesting game... basically about a husband being haunted by his wife..

Then, we got lakeview cabin collection on steam (lakeview cabin 2 to lakeview cabin 6) and more lore. It's all a silly game with puzzles that pay homages to classic horror movies like alien, but it's a lot of fun and the lore is interesting as well imo

I like this theory way more. There's no big evidence he did kill her. Since she screams at him when he drinks, it can also be an accident where he was intoxicated and couldn't save her
