I love this band. Rachel is just perfect in every way as front lead vocal. Bridgette on that Bass is just pure perfection.
I know I am late to the party on this one but, the song should be played on every pop/rock radio station across America and the world. Fantastic job by everyone in the band and the producers.
I can't even overstate how much joy this song has given me.
Oh look, talent. Never goes out of style.

Getting excited to see Lake Street Dive at Red Rocks on 5/7/2022! It’s the night before and I’m relaxing to a little preview in Golden, CO. My happy place and lyrics.
Saw Rachel and the squad a few weeks back in Detroit. My 4th time. Just as good as the first one, and it was fantastic. Amazing how many folks have still never heard of them. So much crap out there and everyone walks by this? Go figure.
One of the best bands performing right now!!!!!! I have been listening to their entire catalogue for 5 days and I am so happy, dancing every day!!! They have brought the real spirit of music back!!!!!!! Long live Lake Street Dive!!!

A pop song in 6/8 time, with a 4/4 refrain and a 30-second upright bass solo. Fucking rad.
@rloomis3

I hear it as 3/4, rather than 6/8: the quarter-note pulse stays consistent, with three beats per measure, as opposed to the two (longer) beats per measure you would get with 6/8.

Lake Street Dive : 6 studio albums, 1 live album, 1 single, 79 songs, 5 hours 4 minutes of music, over the past 10 years. And they've done it again! Every time I think I cannot love these guys more, they release something fresh, authentic, and completely groovy.
How does this only have 170k views. It deserves millions
Love this group. Brand new to me! Now, at 75 yrs. old (76 in July), if only I could remember their name! Takes me time!

Wow. I started playing in bands in 1965. I started out playing drums, and played bass and guitar all my life since intermediate/advanced in skills and knowledge. I don't remember ever being this entertained and thrilled about a band. This is some serious bad ass stuff and reminds me a lot of the Motown energy, just very hip/minimalist which I think is ultra cool/real. Hit me right in the gut. I hope these kids rise to prominence. The vocals are extra-ordinary!!!! I just love it!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!
I see this was posted 7 years ago, but having only discovered them much later, this was mos def in my top 10 for 2023, and I think I've bookmarked every one of their KZread videos. Phenomenal talent and creativity all around. Thanks for sharing.
Can't express how much joy these musicians bring me. What great chemistry and love the odd time and bridge section.Just beautiful.
Dear Rachel, I've somehow been given a new lease on life. I can't really explain it, but Your Voice and your performances have helped me in a way that can only be described as 'a miracle'

I've listened to this more times than I'll admit , can't find one thing I'd change , they nailed it IT'S A HIT !
KUDOS! You have captured the essence of the Motown and Philadelphia-sound R&B of my youth. I was trying to identify your musical phrases with past hits, and just had to admit - You've resurrected the old R&B spirit in something brand new. AWESOME. Thanks for being so delightfully good.

This album is good but Bad Self Portraits was life! Love you guys
Bridget is just so casually amazing at everything she is doing, none of which is easy by any means.
I would travel around the planet to see you guys perform live. How can a group of muso's be so tight, yet always appear to be kids having fun without a care in the world. Thank you!
Insanely talented people, best wishes from Ireland.
So good! I've fallen in love with every single song on the album, which rarely ever happens to me.
Every song video should be required to show like this one does each of the musicians and their skills and talents ... What an amazing and complimentary group of talent. Fantastic vibe.

Well i dislike and never use medical drugs... it's just a massive business for this industry... Most of the bosses of those companies are not humanists at all...profits come first. this really is about one of the most perfect freaking song ive heard in a while. They really have everything right where it needs to be. Im not even being stupid when i say that i love it even more today than ever. i freaking cherish it. great freaking damn heckin job.
Rachel does have the pipes for songs like these. I absolutely love her voice. I wish they'd get to the northwest more often.
They even recorded the music video live, crazy amount of talent
I love everything about this.
Long story short, this song caught my ear while standing outside a hotel waiting for a ride. Immediately became a fan when I heard the musicianship. 💯👍🏿
Bridgette be bangin that bass!
Musicality in a pop song. Bands like this need to be exposed to the mainstream.
I love these guys. Pure musicianship. Rachel's voice is like something out of a time machine.
Extraordinary balance between rythm section and harmony. The Bass goes through my guts, passes the heart and then off to the brain.
Modest Mouse vibes with the opening chords. This, and so many of this bands originals, im looking them up seeing if its theirs. Just amazed at how freaking fantastic they are. Can't stop groovin around. So jazzed that my friend showed me this band!

My intro to the band was part of a concert promoting the 2013 Coen Bros film Inside Llewyn Davis. The concert was on Showtime, called Another Day, Another Time. LDS came out and set up around 1 condenser mic and rocked the house with "You Go Down Smooth". Just blew me away.

@@kayteekattt As far as I know the full concert isn't available to watch anywhere...unless Showtime has their own streaming service. But you can find clips of it on youtube. Coen Bros did a similar thing when they released O Brother Where Art Thou. They held a release party/promotional concert at the Ryman. There's a dvd of it called Down From The Mountain. This is almost like a sequel to that concert, musically. Both films/concerts music director was T. Bone Burnett. The Another Day Another Time concert was held at Town Hall in NYC, I assume because the film was set in Greenwich Village.

I love that the official video is a great 'live' version with the solos included! As usual, Bridget killed it!
I don't have much, but I have so much gratitude to/for who or whomever gave me the capacity to recognize the beauty of unparalleled talent. This is tremendous.
I feel like we get to watch the “perfect take,” that never gets recorded, every time they stand next to each other. Harmonic

Man, no one told me about this group! Plus this song feels so nostalgic, even though it's new to me.
The bass is INSANE
This Band is VERY , VERY Great I wish they would come to Mansfield , Pa. !
I hear Hall&Oats influences , and that's a good thing. Love this band
I love lake street dive! I was listening to some Motown on the beach the other day and a song came on that reminded me of this song. "trying to love two" - very different lyrically, but lots of musical similarities.
Bravo, those jeans are choice lol
I’ve been waiting my whole life for LSD!!! I haven’t the words other than phenomenal !!!
By the way. My compliments to your bassist, your drummer, and your guitarist. You're all top flight! Thank you so very much Rachel!
I was going to see your show, it got canceled cause of COVID-19 so I'm gonna listen to it from home!!!!!!!!!
I can only echo what others have said. You folks are hugely talented. Great musicianship and vocals. Especially love the bass line in this one. Awesome really. So much fun to listen to your music. I am a new fan.
this bass player she always provides great groove!!
The most toe-tappiest song of the year. Just found it and played it 20x this week easily.
WOW! I love it, at 1:57 , when Mike C. starts that soft drumming, then Bridget comes in with the upright bass! Of course Mike O. mixes in nicely with deep guitar, but it's Rachael's voice that takes us home!!! 🎶❤️🎶
Just saw them in Tucson last night. Every person in this band is just so talented. Thank you for the great music.

As many times as I have listened to this song and watched other performances of it this is my first time seeing this video. This tune should be a staple in their shows!!!
Remarkable song, work etc! I love you alll!
I tripped across a cover of "Can't Find My Way Home" which I loved. Then another Lake Street Dive tune and another and I am frickin' hooked. I've been listening to them almost nonstop for days. I'm obsessed, can't get enough of this talent. Every single one of these people are fucking amazing. Love their vibe. The future of great music is alive and well! No fake bullshit here.
