Beautiful fish but you're talking 18 to 21 lb tops. I've caught many kings including a 30.49 pounder this year and almost 500 lb of kings in the king of kings kayak fishing championships and that is not a 25 to 30 pounder not even close still a beautiful fish and congratulations!

Yeah, I stopped weighing fish at the turn of the century...LOL Doesn't do anything for me in fact I regret taking large trophy fish out of waters in the 90's to this day. I like fishing with other kayakers but the technology side of it ruins it for me and that's why I won't fish tournaments.

How do you like those stabilizers? Thinking of getting a pair for my PA14

They work pretty good. You may have to do a little modifying when installing them. They have 3 sets of holes pre drilled in the pipe to allow different heights. I just rotate the bar. For the most part 99% of the time I have mine set 6” above the waterline. So I don’t get any drag. It makes it easier hauling big fish in and leaning over grab my downrigger ball/clip. You do get a sail effect with the wind as well. I only use them when I’m Salmon fishing on Big water.

what type of radio do you use for emergencies?

It's a VHF floating handheld radio. The coast guard uses channel 16 and has 10 weather channels. Depending where your at local fisherman and boat captains will also primarily use 1 specific channel.

How far offshore? Also where do you launch?

It really depends on the conditions and the direction of the wind. I'm a safety first guy so I have a marine weather radio on me to monitor the wind, wave height and direction. Some times I go 4-5 miles out. Depending on the direction of the wind and where the fish are at will determine where I launch from. I fish from Kenosha, Wi all the way to Michigan City. So pretty much any and all the marina's in between.
