Lake District Walks | Glaramara and Allan Crags

This 10 mile loop makes for a great day out! Starting at Seathwaite the walk heads up Thornythwaite Fell, then onto the double summits of Glaramara. A little further on is Allan Crags, where walkers are immersed in the heart of the mountains. Next the trail heads down to Esk Hause, then on to Angle Tarn, before dropping down the famed 'long valley' - that is Langstrath.

Slept on top of Allen Crags at the end of August, above the clouds for sunset and sunrise and it was breathtaking. I had never seen so many stars on the night , could even see the milky way .

Your photography and commentary are great. A mix of Wainwright's descriptions with additional commentary by Bear Grylls. In the last 24 hours, I have done Great Gable, Aira Force, Helvellyn and Scales Force with you. I have no blisters and it has cost me nothing. It does permit me to enjoy the wonderful landscapes, even when physically prevented from being there myself. Many thanks...

Got home from the lakes this morning, unpacked my gear and my tent is currently draped over my bike drying out from this mornings rain. Relaxing now and watching your hike up Glaramara, I was up there myself yesterday on the only sunny day of the trip, it was a good climb and well worth it for the views. I stayed at the Chapelhouse farm campsite so I started pretty much at the same point. Nice, informative and well put together video as always Abbie. Nice one.

Hi Abbie, This is the first time I have seen one of your videos and I thoroughly enjoyed it so I will be checking out your others. It's great when someone talks through their walk and shares their thoughts. Should you ever get back to Glaramara to give it that hug I would recommend walking right in to Comb Gill and up the far end of it to Comb Door and Comb Head from where great views of the Gill and Borrowdale can be enjoyed.

Re filming ... sure :) I'm also carry a (go pro copy - MJ7 Star using a monopole when flying .... BUT, you are light years above me in terms of filming and editing skills. Hi. Did this walk just yesterday. I intended on going circular from Seathwaite and back down either before Seathwaite Fell or via Stockley Bridge, depending on energy levels. However, i failed... I got as far as you do at 16:41 and then realised then distance still to go, along with the fact i'd somehow not considered the ascent over Allen Crags - numpty! I basically shat my pants and did a 180, slightly worried about remaining daylight and the not knowing of what was actually left to complete before i could hit the return leg. I'm noticing a lot when i go on walks that aren't very clearly marked or appear bigger than i've managed to ascertain from the map that i lose it to fear of the unknown. It's very apparent and i don't like it. I try and have a word with myself but it doesn't help.

I've been think about what you said about regrets, and my view of regrets is this. you make your decisions on the facts you have before. and hopefully they are the best facts available to you, then act on these facts. whether its picking which icecream to have or stating or ending a relationship. right wrong or indifferent you base your decisions on these facts. so all I do is trust myself to have the best facts available, and accept later on that I made the best decision and move on. beating yourself up later on when different facts or feelings may come to light is something you shouldn't do, just accept your original decision by thinking like this regrets disappear, but its not to say you may have liked a different outcome to a past event in later life, but just trust that your past self made the right call
