Hey Jerry. In 1953 the lake was so dry you could walk to Scorpions Island. People organized a massive public "praying for rain" get together and in 1955 it rained so much that the water level returned to historic normal.

In the 9 years we've been here we've seen the lake go up and the lake go down. Nine years ago people were starting to worry about the lake level being low (not quite as low as it is now) then 4 years later years ago the lake was coming up Colon Street and was just about over the top of the Ajijic malecon. As Jerry showed in his video this year you'd have to walk out a fair distance from malecon to even reach the water. It is low now but hopefully there will be a few good rainy seasons both here and, more importantly, up river and the lake level will rise again before too long.

Thank you Jerry and Lori for still being there!!! I was just writing posts on Life In Mexico and about a Desperate Mexican Street Dog and getting lots of local interest around Gold Canyon Arizona. My Blacked Out Driver post was most popular so far. We are looking forward to more of your videos. I sometimes bring cars to Mexico given the mechanics there are much better and far more affordable. I consider Mexico as a place "going back in time to a better place in time"!

As usual, Jerry, good video. I know you have said this in other videos, but for those who are new to your channel, it may be worth repeating...much better to rent first before buying...for a host of reasons. Question: in Ajijic (Mexico), is it common to negotiate a house price, as it usually is in the US?

I'd say yes, we negotiated the price of the house we bought at Lakeside.

Good information on houses. Yet Jerry for 165,000 US dollars here in Veracruz, Veracruz there are 4 bedroom 3.5 bathrooms 580 sq. meters for 560,00 pesos *32,941 US dollars. And there are many more here that are beautiful and way under the 165,000 US Dollar homes some even have small swimming pools inside homes. And for the 474,000 US dollars a person can buy either a mansion or several really big new homes here for the same price. And be located right at or within a mile of Gulf of MEXICO BEACHES

@@JerryBrownTravels Here in the mountains of Veracruz, there is lots of free water, green jungle, historic Centros, and lots of local citrus and produce. Houses for half of the Expat places. You will have to speak a bit of Spanish. 😎

@@traceyb715 In the Veracruz mountains we have a rainy season. Right now is the hottest driest time of year. Up to 40°C sometimes, but mostly 35°C. The sun is directly overhead on May 10. I have a pool, which makes all the difference. In June starts the rainy season; blue skies every morning but evening showers after sundown 4 out of 5 days. June, July, August, September are 5 degrees cooler than right now as a result.
