Interestingly, this pandemic makes you visit places that you often took for granted just because they are close to your home. Well, it was July and very hot (104 F degrees) and we decided to visit Lake Berryessa. It has been at least 25+ years since I visited Lake Berryessa and I began to remember those memorable memories again.
Lake Berryessa is a fun place to bring your families especially for kids. The lake offers boating, water skiing, wake-boarding, tubing and other fast-paced water sports, plus quiet coves for kayaking, fishing and swimming. I find the waters at the edge of the lake to be a little muddy but once you are a few feet out, the water is fine for a swim. The water can reach 75 degrees during those very hot summers. For those who want to stay the night, they also offer houseboat and cabin rentals, as well as camping options.
A little history is Lake Berryessa is the largest lake in the Napa County of California. This reservoir in the Vaca Mountains was formed following the construction of the Monticello Dam on Putah Creek in the 1950s. Since the early 1960s, this reservoir has provided water and hydroelectricity to the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Makes me sad watching this. I had some of my best life memories there both as a young guy partying then years later taking my kids there. I'm watching this here living in Japan and that's the only place in CA I will ever miss.

Great video!! Hey, I think I saw all my fishing lures I've lost there over the years? There's a lot more beach area's to lounge at. It's sad to see the water level so low. Thanks

Glad you enjoyed the video. With these heatwaves the water will be even more low. Surprisingly It was 2017 and 2019 were the last time the glory hole had overflowed.
Was this shot before geofencing? Did you meet to unlock that zone. Planning a trip there with dji air want to know if any restrictions?

There is no geofencing in the area so there was no need to unlock for me to fly. You should be good. Have fun flying!

Is the drought because of fewer rain falls or because more housings are built in the area which increase water demands?

Drought is caused by few rainfalls. Last big rainfall was 2017.

I believe the roads are open but the lake is open in the weekends only for now. Best to check the website for any changes.
